Why don't they emphasize the resurrection aspect of Christ's story, instead of dwelling on the method of His death?

*edit* I do not give thumbs up or down to answers for question I myself have asked.

*edit* I have never heard of this 'empty tomb' stuff; that's a neat idea. I will look into it.

While we do have symbols to represent the resurrection of Christ, we always go back to the cross, because it was through the cross that the sins of mankind were made void.

Atheists and others often attack the cross, because they see it as nothing more than a torture device, and consider us morbid to remember it.

The truth is this: We know that the cross is offensive. Yet without it, there is no victory over sin. We all need reminders of what our sin cost Jesus Christ.

Paul said it this way, "Brothers, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished." (Galatians 5:11)

The symbol is an EMPTY cross, the work is done. Easter is the celebration of the Resurrection of Christ.

The reason for so much emphasis on the manner in which Christ died is to show how much Jesus suffered for us. All the pain and agony and separation from His Father was done just for you and me.

We do . It is known as a butterfly

The butterfly has long been a Christian symbol of resurrection, for it disappears into a cocoon and appears dead, but emerges later far more beautiful and powerful than before.

As a symbol of Christ's resurrection after three days in the grave, the butterfly is seen especially around Easter. But the butterfly is also a symbol of every Christian's hope of resurrection.

Actually, the empty cross is a symbol representing resurrection. However the empty tomb is more appropriate.

Protestants use the EMPTY cross as the symbol of his Resurrection...and hate to break it to everyone, but Easter eggs are pagan LOL

We use the crucifix as a symbol because Jesus died on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins. It is through His death that we are saved. Why would we want to ignore that?

Good question!
Fact is, Christians aren't suppose to have any tangible objects related to worship ...like a cross.

That is why eggs are used at Easter, to represent new life.

edit: The thumbs down to such a frank and benign response is validation for me that some here wish only to reward those who they agree with.

Apparently there is even "empty tomb" jewelry. I have never seen this before, but I will have to be on the lookout now.
