you will be required to pay them back when youseperate. you can either write them a check, or they will take it out of your last check and then bill you for any balance.

Depending on the type of bonus, you may get it "pro-rated" as in if you did let's say 3/4 of the time you were required, you'll get 3/4 of the money and only will have to pay back 1/4.

Depending on the amount, they could keep you active duty, and refuse to discharge you, until the amount is repaid. They likely will take it out of subsequent pay checks until the amount, prorated, most likely, is settled. Unless you have it squirreled away, and then, once the mistake is found, you can simply pay it back in full.

Go to your finance office/personnel office and tell them you have the money and want to repay it. If you don't repay it the that way they will settle it in your final pay and take the rest through and IRS debt. You don't want that so settle up now.

Don't do anything but be prepared for them to find the error. Keep that extra money just in case. Its amazing how well oiled the DAO can find money that they over paid but simply become retarded when they owe you.

If you still have that money go ahead and give it back...they will find you and get it from you one way or another... Otherwise it will come out of your last paycheck.....and they can TRY (this happened to us this tax season) to take it out of your taxes.....they didn't get ours, but they tried...
