If a soldiers is of the Greek orthodox faith and the military cannot provide a orthodox service while the soldier is deployed can the soldier be sent home. lets keep in mind for 15 months the soldier cannot go to confession, receive communion, or go to church without a orthodox priest. If the soldier can be sent home for this reason where is that documented.

NO, a soldier cannot be sent home for that reason. When in the field few religious services are provided for any specific religion. When services are held they are very generic.

We have the freedom to believe anything we want in the US. However, if you volunteered for service, you cannot exempted yourself from deployment because of your religion.

i don't think so. the military tries to accommodate for religious services but in a war zone it is hard to do. they do have religious service men over there, chaplains, priests, etc - in the war zone having services.

I know for a fact that there are roman catholic priests over there serving. I don't know if they have any Greek orthodox over there. Your soldier needs to talk about this to his priest before he is deployed and find out if he can attend services in the roman catholic tradition.

but I don't think the lack of religious services will let him be kept home. -- once again have him talk to his priest.

No; the chaplain on duty is supposed to help accommodate them in their faith, and they're supposed to be able to practice (within reason--there are rules like no candles in the barracks.)

Thousands of Wiccan soldiers serve without a specified chaplain.

Nice try, though!

Nope. You signed on the dotted line. The government pretty much owns you. Its the price you pay for fighting for freedom. I'm sure God understands.
