Yes. If you are trying working out mainly to lose weight, you may see a jump in the scale at first, when clearly you are not getting fatter. Don't let it scare you. You are just gaining muscle.Your body burns calories no matter what you do. But when you add muscle to it, it burns alot more naturally. So accept the muscle gratiously. It will make you look trim and fit in no time. And don'tr worry. It takes a TON to make a girl actually bulk up like a guy. You will look great.

NO muscle is denser than fat A pound of feathers weighs the same as a pound of steel. It is how much room does that pound take up. Fat being less dense than muscle takes up more volume than muscle.

Actually technically it doesn't. It is denser that fat, so muscle can take up the same amount of space as fat, but it will weight triple the amount.
