You're cruising on an interstate at 70-75 mph... Plenty fast. Then someone comes flying up behind you as you pass another vehicle. You pull into the traveling lane to let them pass you, but they follow you there and continue to tailgate. On occassion, it is because their exit is coming up... But a lot of times it's not! Why do they do this?!

That's one thing that makes me have to fight against flying into road rage. I can deal with mistakes -- the guy doesn't see me and cuts me off -- the guy falls asleep a the light and makes me miss the green. All that stuff is forgivable. But what chaps my friggin @ss is when a pecker head is intentionally doing something like that.... ugh.... tailgating when they can pass..... that and weaving in and out of traffic recklessly..... aaaarrrrghhh!

Oh. Tailgating is the one thing that drives me UP THE WALL. I'm the witch that slows down, which is particularly effective when they can't pass me :) You are definitely not alone-it makes me SO mad!

Sometimes I think those people are "drafting" to save gasoline.

[Drafting or Slipstreaming is a technique in sports racing where competitors align in a close group in order to reduce the overall effect of drag or fluid resistance of the group in a slipstream. Especially when high speeds are involved, drafting can significantly reduce the average energy expenditure required to maintain a certain speed.]

It annoys me to be tailgated anywhere, at any time. It's even more annoying when I have my children with me!

tailgating is RUDE and DANGEROUS period. there is no excuse for it. i usually tap my breaks as a warning once or twice, if they dont stop, i say all bets are off.
