I've always use a 4ch amp on my last 2 cars, they bridge 2 ch to all four speakers to power them up and 2 ch just for the sub, and the shop I went to was featured on car audio mag, so should I trust them again, or do what everyone else say to just use a 2 ch..confused..HELP

yes i don't really mind what the stock speaker sounds, i just want it powered so it will sound clean, that's why i want to add the sub for bass and use my stock speakers as highs, my past experience putting a 4 ch sounds cleaner since all the speakers are being powered by the amp, but at the same time, the sound is concentrated on the bass coming from the sub, but should I get the alpine MRP-450 or JL A3400?

As long as you set the filters/crossovers correctly and you have the correct power handling for everything, no problem.

The way I have chosen to hook up my highs, mids and subs is by having a 2 ch because it put out more ohms or get you at the lowest ohm for your subs where a 4ch will not even if it is bridged. Select a 4 ch for your door, component, and highs to get the best results add a PA1 or some sort of equalizer to balance the sound once it is installed. I have went to competition all over Texas and won with my system including: 4 12"Kicker CVX, 2 2ch Memphis Class D 1000, 2 memphis door speakers with components, and 6 memphis 6x9's all on a High Performance Memphis 2500w 4ch.

If you use 2ch of a 4ch amp to power your four speakers (assuming 2 front & 2 rear) you'll lose your fader capability.

In addition, depending on the ohms of your speakers & your amp & the way you wire it up, you may create a overload situation.

depending on your amp model, I have seen it where you can use a 4ch amp for 4 speakers & wire a sub in addition to it, but again, your amp has to be designed for it (I'm not sure if they call it a 5ch or 4+1ch amp)

assuming you have a dual voice coil sub (since you only mentioned one sub on 2ch bridged), you could buy a 2ch amp for just the sub & use the 4ch for your 4 speakers.

There's absolutely no reason you can't do it that way, as long as you don't mind not being able to adjust the relative volume of the front and rear speakers. If you've been happy with the system in the last two cars, stick with what works for you and don't worry about what "everyone else" says.

I would trust the shop, i mean you can use the 4 channel amp like that but it was not designed to.

nope. on no account have - on no account will. the human beings of course get payed to do it so they're no longer often gifting away any funds. that's patronising and pathetic. if somebody needs to donate funds to the poorer human beings they are in a position to - yet dont patronise them and be like: poor you... have some funds. they ought to easily shove the cheque below the door with a be conscious. :) x
