I got the same problem as your son that I love playing games no matter online or offline when I was 12. Majority says playing games wont help the person to get interested in computing.

So my first game is a very nice and simple to play online game. Ragnarok Online. Many of you had heard this. My first time getting in is totally terrible. During that time, I actually don't know the definition of email or know hotmail is exist lol. After a few months playing the game, I didnt get any good experience at all, then an unknown player ask me to give him my account id and password because he said that he wants to "bot" my characters. That time I only know the definition of botting is running your character in the online game with a software. I was totally unsure wether this unknown person is trying to cheat me. The only thing I know that botting is related to hotmail or something. At the end, my account in that online game got hacked and I feel I am so freaking dumb here that I got cheated = =. From that day onwards, I started to find out my mistakes and started to explore around the net and the computer. Now, I had improved my computing skills ,typing skills and even know how to create a simple websites, answering in yahoo answers and so much more. Now I become a very top student in computing in school and way better than the classmates and seniors who had gone online since 9 years old. Actually, if I didnt got a chance to play an online game or didnt get cheated during the game play, I will not become what am I today. Pss.. now I am really interested in every part of computing. The best thing is just let your son play an online game and if he had a chance to get cheated, then he will realised his mistakes and improve himself in computing. Last thing, if you have any relatives or any of your son's cousin are a computer-lover/it pro etc, that will encourage your son more to know computer. I am glad that you are a good parent that lets your son get himself interested in computing. xD My mum.. doesnt like me to go learn any computing stuffs. Thats why I need to learn it by myself and explore around. Hope that helps. Good luck.

= = Totally a lesson for me. Great parent.

Feel free to ask questions personally, my email is hingsk92@yahoo.co.uk (Not all questions lol because my computing skill has limit)

I do not understand what you are trying to ask, but I will answer as best I can. I have learned much about computers and a lot of things can be done. Computers are the future, and they are the present. You can use Computers to organize, store valuable information to keep it safe, use the internet, download files, and of course play LOADS upon LOADS of games. I highly suggest you give it a try if you are interested and you may download some computer game s for free at http://www.funpcgame.com/. Yahoo! Games has some poplar online games too. Also, you should buy a book on computers if you are really interested.

Here's a simple idea:

Buy him a game that only meets the minimum specs for your computer. One of my pet peeves about games is if they run choppy or lag. When he goes to complain, you can tell him he can fix the problem himself.

Another option is to intentionally sabotauge the OS. Don't destroy it, but turn your IE7 cache to 8mb, change the network settings to manual and make up random IP addresses, uninstall flash players, maybe even ask him to install updates for Windows.

Mainly, create a simple situation where the problem is evident and the solution is (kind of) clear. Curiousity will take over if he's interested in computers.

You should command him strictly & tell him about other aspects of a PC too!! Assign him a tutor for the same too can help!

Also if above thing don't work then just change the OS. You must be using WINDOWS right! Just change it to LINUX. Because most of the games are written taking WINDOWS into account & will not run on LINUX PC

Make sure the computer is in a common area, like the kitchen, then take the time to teach him how to use it.
