What would be a generous but not excessive amount to offer? We'll be gone for 15 days, and we're asking her to spend about 10-15 minutes a day watering potted plants and veggies in our garden. She lives directly across the street. We're in an urban area, if that makes any difference in the rates for such things.

Fifty bucks.
The average salary for a gardener is about $9. So that breaks down to $2.25 for fifteen minutes. Times 15 days. Rounds off to a little over $33.
But I'd give her $50 because it's a convenience to you and if you had to hire someone to do it, you'd be paying more than that.

I would say 20 to 30 dollars is plenty. A lot of money to a jobless kid. Figure this:
30 dollars for 15 days of working 0.25 hours
After some math, that comes out to 8 dollars an hour. Not bad work. (for some people saying over 100 dollars, that's over 27 dollars an hour...)

I'd say 40-50 bucks...
It's not that much to spend for 15 days...I think it's a good amount of money for a 12 yr old...probably 40 dollars is fine...

That's two weeks - and a lot of responsibility for a child - so I would pay her around 20-40 dollars -

If you have a large garden, and alot of plants.
I would pay 10-15 dollars. to a 12 year old 10$ is alot.
