Please don't give me the "super-Christian" answer. I want you to truly examine yourself and see whether or not you would. If you honestly will, by all means, say so. If not, don't be ashamed to say that. Be honest with yourself.
As for me, at one point, I honestly believed yes, I would. Then, as time went on, I wondered if I could honestly undergo persecution and/or death. Am I willing to stand in a crowd of people and say "yes, I will die for Him?" I don't know.
Please keep this in mind from this day on. I've been reading Foxe's Book of Martyr's and one martyr, a bishop of Antioch, was reported as being led to his death and saying "Now I begin to be a disciple. I care for nothing, of visible or invisible things, so that I may but win Christ. Let fire and the cross, let the companies of wild beasts, let breaking of bones and tearing of limbs, let the grinding of the whole body, and all the malice of the devil, come upon me; be it so, only may I win Christ Jesus!"

I honestly don't know if I would ever be in that situation. But I hope I would act in a way that would make my family and my church and God proud.
But I would be praying the whole time, God give me strength....

God created Man and give him life that he may live .".LIVE" God did not imply that man should give up his life deliberately to be a Martyr and die to go to heaven. This a case of Semantics. Martyr and Suicide differ in definition, but the concept is the same. If this were the case, all criminals, murderers, terrorists, etc would take their own lives and take that ticket to heaven that short cut route, no need for repenting and leading a good life following the right path. To follow the right path is the way to God. Some people take pot and believe they are in heaven, have seen God and spoken to God and will go straight to heaven. Depends upon your state of mind and your upbringing. It may be a case of illusion, if not delusion. So no matter what religion one belongs to, Life is very precious, every life is precious, there is meaning for every existence, there is Order and Organization in the Universe. So, when people take their own lives, they are interrupting that Order. One is given a Life, one can live it to the best of ones ability, realiz ambitions, desires, use talents that one has, develop other gifts that is latent, cultivate other qualities to ones benefit. There is so much one can do to, why cut it short? For what? For a pie in the sky, by and by. God does not want or need you to die for him. This is a Fallacy .

Foxe's Book is a heck of a read. I suggest you follow up with God's Bestseller, my favorite biography of William Tynsdale, who was burned for daring to translate and publish Bibles in English a century or so before the King James. Something like 90% of the KJV of the New Testament was Tynsdale's translation.
I always thought the bigger issue was living for Christ than dying for him. We all die eventually, so that isn't really the "hard part." The hard part is finding a path in life to follow that will change people's lives for the better.
Obsessing about dying for God is what gets suicide bombers worked up, or has people sitting on their rumps waiting for a "rapture" instead of living as Christ commanded.
Thinking about living for God's plan gets people motivated to oppose wars of choice, feed the starving, teach the illiterate, comfort the dying. And if in the course of doing so you face persecution or death, so be it.
I'm sure Tynsdale felt willing to risk execution to bring God's word to men, but he'd rather have lived another 10 years, finished his translation and done even more good for others than he had done.
That's my opinion anyway.

Believe it or not, I have thought about this. Yes, if it comes to it, I would die for the Lord. It may seem pointless to my family and friends at the time, but only eternity would tell. Then, eternal life would really begin.

I recommend "Romero". Great story (w/ Raul Julia)
To think on this is to only invite anxiety. I will cross that bridge if and when necessary. To say I would or would not would only be speculative and discourage humility. I just ask everyday that I have the strength and courage to do what is right when it becomes necessary. I don't ask that I be agreed with.

It's too easy to die for the Lord, at least to claim that you would. Don't think it's anything spectacular either.
Are you willing to LIVE for your Lord and keep His commandments? That's all He asks, and the daily walk is a much greater sacrifice than a moment of passion in dying.

I don't believe anyone can answer this with a quick "Yes" because we all don't want to feel the PAIN of death. We have to realize that the pain is only temporary but Everlasting Life is Eternal. Amen, my answer is "Yes", i have faith in my Lord.

Not that we would have to die for him-Thank you Jesus for being crucified for us. I may be scared out of my mind but just knowing Glory awaits me I would die for his name sake.
Stay blessed and thank you for such a wonderful thought today.
