The suggestion that fossils are a test of faith is just so weird!

Why????

Is this the argument that the fundamentalists who believe this will use whenever evidence they can't counter is presented to them?

At what point will they realise how silly it makes them look?

Bones or Fossils are not the only evidence for test of faith. Test of faith is depend on the concept of re-birth. The Al-Mighty God created you when you did not existed. He created you from one drop of serum... and Why He cannot give you re-birth !!

It would me more accurate to say that God exercises are faith.

Just like physical exercise, our faith gets stronger when it is tested.

I do not see the dinosaur bones as a test of faith, but evidence of what the world was like before the flood. I think Satan is trying to use dinosaurs fossils in conjunction with the theory of evolution to lead people astray. There are several places around the world where there are human and dinosaur footprints in the same rock. This goes along with what the Bible says, but because evolution says that we lived millions of years apart, many people do not believe the foot prints (even though it is rock solid evidence for the Bible).

I like my faith to be challenged. I think if you don't doubt it, research it, know it, then you'll never really believe it in your heart. You just blindly accept it, which I feel is taking it for granted.
I mesh science and my faith. I look at the myths as stories, guidance. Science tell me how the Gods did it. Not that they didn't.
Fossils are a test? You're right. That's silly. LOL

I don't like that argument for that very reason. The bones are there because they're there, not because they were put there for a test of faith.

As for dating - how do you *know* the half-life of the carbon isotope used for dating? Its supposed to be so astromically long (just the half-life mind you) that it has existed longer than we have had instrumentation to record it. I don't put any faith in so-called "dating" of fossils.

I'm reminded of Arrested Development

"Anne's uncle wanted to teach George Michael about Creation, and how fossils were something the Jews planted in 1927."

I miss that show.

Is this Q intended as anything more than a test of faith? Who's faith are you testing; Christians, or your own?

Why challenge their beliefs at all?

I thought that was the aspect of Christianity that atheists found the most disagreeable: the proselytization efforts. Yet...here we have atheists doing exactly the same thing?

It's because he is incredibly vain and needs to prove to himself that he can hold peoples faith while clear and reasonable evidence is in existence to the truth of his non-existence.
