The dedicated Javelin shuttle will speed spectactors between central London and the Olympic Park in just seven minutes. Ultra-modern trains will run between King's Cross/St Pancras and Stratford International during the Games, using the new high-speed Channel Tunnel Rail Link track. The Javelin will be capable of carrying 25,000 passengers an hour in unrivalled comfort, connecting with tube, bus and regional train services at King's Cross/St Pancras and Stratford. The state-of-the-art terminal at King's Cross/St Pancras will be easily accessible from central London, and would allow visitors from the Midlands and North of England to reach the Olympic Park within minutes of their arrival in London. The Javelin service will also operate between Stratford and Ebbsfleet in Kent, allowing visitors from mainland Europe to travel directly to the Olympic Park without travelling through central London. The Channel Tunnel Rail Link is scheduled to open in early 2007, and the Government has already confirmed the order of 30 high-speed trains which will come into operation from 2009.

Crazy has answered the question fully. All I would add is the the Javelins are been made by Hitachi - and this is the country that used to lead the world in the manufacture of locomotives and rolling stock. It also shows how much money the Gvenrment is prepared to throw at the expensive farce that is the 2012 Olympics, such as providing these trains wih (as Crazy says) 'unrivalled comfort' whilst other mortals elsewhere in the country have to travel every day on the bone cshakers that are the aging Pacers and other perfectly good stock is put into store as the compnies concernedcannot afford, or are not allowed to by Government interference, to run them.

If it is anything like the Javelin, I'd say that they are probably trains that move from point A to point B in a fast, fairly straight line.

There isn't an article on it in Wikipedia. I would say they travel in a startight line fast pretty much like the Eurostar.

They're trains that haul javelins, or they're trains that look like a javalin. LOL
