I'm afraid she is. You should always check for bikes when moving right (and left)

Accidents happen mate, but i`d say she is in the wrong,i ride a motorbike and have done for a number of years. This is not drilled into car drivers enough ( do a mirror check before making a turn of any direction) i have come a cropper myself when a stupid women indicated to park up on the left as i went to go around her she changed her mind and did a right turn infront of me i had to slide the bike along the ground to avoid her car and the stupid did not even know i was on the floor, she just picked her shopping out of the boot of the car and went to go in,i would not mind i`d been following her for around 4 miles !!!! i said did yot see me sitting behind you,her answer was i saw you at the roundabout......that was about 2 miles away.God and they say woman make better drivers!!!

Ok i take onboard that their are some bikers who have a death wish but all in all i`d say we are a good bunch of people
who in general ride with due care and attention.

hope this has taught your wife a lesson, and the said biker was not hurt to much

It's very hard to say without more information. Did she indicate? Was she positioned in the middle of the road for the turn?

I know these accidents generally blame the driver of the vehicle behind, as they have a better visual assessment of the situation. but if the police get involved and it turns out she just slowed and turned without indicating or positioning in the middle of the road for turning, then the biker has a pretty strong case. He might have thought she was just slowing in the road and went to overtake, suddenly she pulls out in front of him and bang!

As a biker I'd like to say she's at fault, but the Highway Code is clear about not overtaking at junctions.
She was at fault for not checking her mirror before turning, but the biker was at fault for passing her as she was ready to turn.
At least she wasn't trying to do a U-turn, that's what normally happens.

From the wording of your question it sounds as though the m/c was coming from behind your wife's car. Did your wife signal her intention to turn right 'in good time'. Was she positioned correctly to turn right. The m/cyclist was overtaking at a road junction. The accident could be classed as equal responsibility.

Yes I'm afraid she is, but, it is an easy thing to do some of those motorbike riders seem to think the white line down the middle of the road is for them to drive down, and then you have to ask yourself "why" did he not see your wife's indicator light! and act accordingly, could he/she have been riding without due care and attention??????

That sounds like a 50/50.

a] Your wife didn't check

b] Motorcyclists should know better than to try overtaking at a junction

Hope both are all right.

It depends.

Did she signal her intention to turn right well in advance?
Did the biker try to overtake while she was signalling?

Although she could have avoided the accident by looking, if she was signalling her intention to turn right it is the biker's fault for overtaking. If she was not signalling, (or signalled too late, or her turn signal/indicator was not working) then it is her fault.

Motor bikes can be in your blind spot, even when checking
your mirror, but when you do the right turn you are not looking in the mirror.I cannot see how she at fault if her indicator was on,he should have hung back till she had gone.
