Trev, Just because I mentioned a person's opinion on global warming doesn't say I agree with it. See this is how you people think. You take a statement and take it to the next unlogical conclusion. It's sad. And another thing, I might not be a scientist, but I am a thinker. Scientists aren't the only people that can talk about this subject. I'm a historian, economist and educator. So you are not allowed to talk about those things unless you are degreed in those areas. OK with that?

Because NASA has the best engineers and scientist in the world. And they have the most technologically advanced satellites. They all know that Global Warming is propaganda, I found a very informative video on this matter...

most people are loyal to the bosses who butter their bread. There are a few people still alive who have integrity and have the courage of their convictions.
Some people believe what they are told to believe, others , a few others, think that compromise allows them to be continually if not completely effective in their stand for or against an issue.
Taking a stand may shut you down altogether and that is not always helpful to a cause.

The head of NASA may be tunnel visioned. Most of us are.

He is an administrator, and a politically appointed one. The policy of NASA itself is that we have to do something. Now, he is not contesting that global warming is happening, he just doesn't think it's a big deal. I, personally, think the potential death of millions of people due to drought and accompanying famine, more severe weather, etc. is of great concern. If you believe in global warming as a phenomena (and that humans affect it) you should look at the potential scenarios of what can happen, and make up your own mind if it's of importance to you.
The current climate is something that all species have evolved to. A change to it would cause extinctions and a rough transition, even for humans. There is a large likely hood, as I mentioned, that many will die during this transmission especially in undeveloped countries.

His response is in the first person singular (I) and not the first person plural (we) - it's his own persepctive and not that of others or NASA.

He is of course entitled to an opinion but he is just one person going against the grain, the majority of scientists beleive we should take action now.

If you were to single out individuals you can find people who think the Earth is flat, that we're part of an alien experiment and that other civilisations live in secret underground colonies. Do you also go along with these beliefs because a handful of people support them?

Incidentally, in your previous questions and answers you make it very clear that you oppose the theory of anthropogenic global warming and then you align yourself with someone who states "I'm aware that global warming exists... I'm also aware of recent findings that appear to have nailed down — pretty well nailed down the conclusion that much of that is manmade". Isn't that somewhat hypocritical?

Mr Griffin is quite clearly an educated person but ultimately he's an administrator and not a scientist, consequently he's not the best person to be advising on scientific matters.

-----------------

Re your additional details:

You have previously made it abundantly clear that you agree with Mr Griffin's opinion. I quote from one of your earlier responses "I think there are much worse problems in the world... Our money could be much better served saving lives than in trying to "save the Earth"... you want to spend money on the Earth Warming? Give me a break!" http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AoAm21TKt.VE7Veebnl3z4Dty6IX?qid=20070604135850AAaVAPa&show=7#profile-info-AA11002500

May I respectfully request you clarify your position regarding the prioritising of global warming as you appear to be contradicting yourself.

If you place so much faith in NASA, how about the fact that NASA's foremost climate scientist (James Hanson) immediately came out and denounced Griffin's comments, calling them "remarkably uninformed" and "arrogant"?

Personally I'll take the word of the best scientist over the word of some administrator appointed by the Bush Administration.

You don't need to rely on what's said by the media or politicians. The hard data is there for you to see for yourself, and it's widely available. Research honestly and completely, and go with what your ethical compass says you should do.

why would you want to believe and support sth that the leader of NASA is saying?
I mean the whole world is in problem. from now we can see some weird phenomenons like katrina or other problems and anyways the things are getting worse.
so like the whole world is in danger but you dont want to believe it because some guy is supporting other things.
and now i wonder why would you want to believe sth that he is saying from the minute that you yourself can see that we are facing a major problem?
so like when are you going to say that yes indeed we are having problems? when this man will say it or when there will be no coming back?

You've got to love the irony in many of these reponses.

He's just a "political hack" and an administrator.. and I can prove it by linking you to a purely political document with results mandated by administrators ( AKA IPCC ).

you need to research and find out about gw on your own....take peoples OPINIONs with a grain of salt and come to your own educated conclusions....this topic is so divided and so political and everyone one has on opinion on it...you need to come to your own conlcusion on the topic first and then react accordingly

I don't think he meant it not a priority for mankind, but for NASA.
NASA's function isn't environmental control, cleanup, or regulation.
