I'm willing to bet money it's 15 percent or less. Most of you don't even know what you're talking about when you proclaim a religion.

And what would be more surprising is that,

"How many of them have read it and actually bought into everything that's written in it."

Like Mark Twain says,

“It ain't those parts of the Bible that I can't understand that bother me, it is the parts that I do understand.”

Actually, I have read it several times over my lifetime. Since I am Christian, I refer more to the New Testament than the Old but I have read that many times as well.

It may interest you to know that many people, not just Christians, find the Bible confusing. Especially since there are so many different versions. You can be Christian simply by believing in Christ.

Sounds to me like you have had some negative dealings with Christians. This saddens me. There are always those who go overboard. But please do not judge all of us by the actions of those you have met or talked with. We are as unique and individual as you are. Blessings, Diana

This is obviously not a scientific poll, since people are responding at random, so I am not sure what you are going to learn from this.

But if you must know, I have read the entire Bible several times, and have taken seminary courses for humanities credit in college, and just for fun after I graduated.

Happy now?

That's a huge generality to make. Blanket statements are almost never true. I do read the Bible and try my best to live by it. So do most of the other Christians I know. You should try it sometime, you would be surprised at what you might learn.

I have made it my practice to read it cover to cover every year for the last 18 or 19 years. In that time, I have read it is at least 8 or 9 different translations.

you're making the blunders of thinking that the Bible is the muse of Christianity. it incredibly isn't any longer. particular, it incredibly is a clever reference, and a few branches of Christianity regard it because of the fact the appropriate authority. yet Christianity unfold by way of a competent deal of Europe, Africa, and Asia interior the 1st century in the previous lots of the recent testomony became into written, and between people who in many cases had no previous testomony components reachable. Is it available to settle for the thought of evolution without interpreting Darwin's "foundation of Species"? Or to comprehend physics without having examine Newton's "Principia Mathematica"? of direction it is. despite if those works have been foundational of their respective fields, they do no longer seem to be the only components. can no longer you study the words and stipulations of a internet site from friends you have confidence? Up unti a pair of years in the past, i could no longer make sure precisely how lots of the Bible I had examine, although I have been a Christian as long as i will undergo in ideas. i could in no way controlled a scientific interpreting that coated all of it--although I knew i could examine tremendously much all of it in bits and products or in super chunks at various cases. I wasn't confident what bits i could ignored. I do think of it incredibly is clever to make confident one reads all of it, and that i did so in 2009--alongside with factors that are no longer quite regular as canonical in my very own branch of Christianity. it incredibly is a competent workout, and it made me extra knowledgeable approximately information of the Bible, besides the fact that it did no longer impact my commonplace awareness of Christianity very plenty. The e book would not "quite set up the religion." It became into set up via people, and it is persevered via people.

For the record, I AM a Christian....not a 'so-called Christian'.

I read it every day and I am blessed by the word of God! It's an AMAZING book!

Of course, it doesn't do any good to read the word if you aren't going to apply it. We are to be doers of the word, not just hearers of it! James 1:22-25

I have read it many times.

You could be right about the number. It could be closer to 5% that has read it completely. Most only look at it Sunday morning when the preacher is preaching.

Many people don't read the Bible, because it is a very confusing book. That does not mean they are not good Christians, there are other ways to be a good Christian!

Christ never instructed anyone to read the Bible or follow it (it wasn't written yet). Besides, many children believein Santa Claus and have never read "The Night Before Christmas," but I don't hear you bashing them.
