I think some people need that extra step as it gives a sense of value and purpose to their life (and the world and humanity in general).
If you assume the universe is just there, then it probably means it has no purpose, which raises questions about your own self worth and the value of your actions.
If you add god into the picture, then you have an instant answer - yes we were created, yes we are here for a reason and yes my life has a very real meaning.
It is odd really, because you don't need an external divine force to validate or empower yourself and your existence, but some people don't see it that way.

Because I don't think any man living even today could write the Bible. Every nation has some kind of story about the flood of Noah. I've read many books and none can compare with the Bible. The prophesies have all come true. The greatest prophesy fulfillment to me was when Israel returned to their homeland that God gave them, they were made a nation in one day and they are speaking the old Hebrew language. All three predicted in the Bible plus other prophesies concerning them. I'll match the prophets of the Bible with anyone who has ever made predictions. The Bible has always come true. If God didn't exist, why would He write a book and tell us all about Him? Man loves to manipulate, but man's mentality is only so good. The Bible is written by an extremely intelligent being. A being that knew the beginning and the end. I don't know the end yet, but everything else so far is on target. I'm a believer for this reason and many more.

In the first place, John, you must either believe in the Bible or not believe in the Bible. If you believe in the Bible, then you must believe that an omnipotent , omnisciencent, omnipresent God who is from everlasting to everlasting; who was, is, and always will be; who calls Himself the I Am is the very One spoken of in the Bible in Genesis 1:1--"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." To say the Universe came first and that it just happened and always was shows far more faith than a smiple trust in a God Who made all things. When one looks at the billions and billions of stars, the intricacies of the human body, the minute details of the atom, and says these all just happened, this shows willful ignorance and a definite lack of perception. A mind far greater than our own, a power far greater than any known to man had to plan the universe--the courses of the planets and stars to keep them from colliding in space, the distance from the sun to place the planet Earth to keep the people alive instead of freezing to death or burning up; the creation of the human body with a heart that continues to beat causing the blood to course through the body feeding the cells to keep the body alive; the intricate parts of the human eye that even if one part was missing the eye could not "see"; the intricate parts of the human ear that work together so allow a person to "hear"--these are just a minute part of a master plan by a master planner--the great God of the universe. Without a God, we have no future. We die, and that's it. But with a God, we have a potential for eternal life. Which is your choice, John?

I suppose because it is impossible (or very difficult) to believe that something has always been there. People like to have a starting point. I am a christian ,and I believe that God is outside time (eternal) and that He created everything. U R back to the same question, though - Where did God come from? I don't know, my mind cannot comprehend that question, but I believe in His existence and that 1 day maybe I will know. Hope this helps, and God bless U.

I am going to go out on a limb, and say you do not believe in our all powerful creator. This makes It difficult to answer your question at all, but I will give it a try.
When a person does not believe they become less receptive to the presence of God. Instead of your brain and logic denying His existance, it is actually an issue of the heart.
God has always existed, and this question is bigger than you think. We can not even come close to understanding what that means. It is like a animal of the sea which lives deep in the dark depths. It sees no light, does not know what the food it eats looks like, and most importantly will never concieve the notion of dry land, breathing our air. ect... Now take this idea and multiply it exponetally by the power of our mighty God.
God can be felt by his people.
God wrote a book.
God knows what the begining and the end look like.
God blesses all of his people.
Has the universe blessed you lately.

People need to justify their belief in God and the Universe. I believe that human beings created religion to help them better understand the world, life, the Universe, and death. To say that the Universe just came simply into exsistance could supremely discredit God as being the creator and ruler of all things. Surely to take this extra step away would be to admit that their Almighty Lord isn't so almighty after all.

there's a flaw in Hawking's good judgment. A a hundred% suitable creation could be finished in itself, artwork by utilising itself, have its very own regulations, and might require no intervention. in simple terms simply by fact somebody can clarify the universe with out invoking God does no longer propose God does not exist. it incredibly is one reason I certainly have little or no know for 'scientists" including Hawking. you could no longer disprove or coach God. maximum scientists comprehend that, so i'm uncertain why Hawking thinks his critiques are something extra effective than in simple terms..critiques. i'm SAM- that may no longer real in any respect. i'm a Christian and that i admire technological expertise. the two my mom and father are scientists and are additionally Christians. I certainly have by no potential had a situation with evolution or the great bang. in case you think of the small team that promotes a strict interpretation of Genesis represents all Christians, you have plenty to benefit. Oh, and Christians who have faith that think of the worldwide is 6,000 years previous, no longer 4.000. Sheesh won't be able to even get that precise.

Isn't it easier to believe that there has been a God forever than that there has been a universe forever. A universe forever, according to our way of thought, would imply creation at somepoint, whereas a God forever would imply by the very definition of a God that he is all sufficient, omnipotent, omnipresent. Hope this helps.

Some people such as myself do accept that the universe simply always existed without god. This is often accepted in an atheist or a pantheist belief.

Love the way Carl Sagan address that question, which is similar to what you are saying. Side note: what chance in today's world does any country have that produces children that don't question story of Noah's Ark.
