You seem like a fun person. I don't want to scare you, but there maybe something big headed our way. Maybe not the end of the World, just the world as we know it. At worst, we may experience a pole shift. At the end of 2011 and the beginning of 2012, our sun is due for its 11 year cyclical pole shift. This time around, due to the influence of a planetary alignment, due at the very same time; our Earth may shift its poles also. NASA has already confirmed that the Earth's north magnetic pole has started to migrate to the South Atlantic. It has also detected a diminishing magnetic field that accompanies a pole shift.
According to some Mayans, this date marks the end of the long count of their calendar; Set to end on a winter solstice (12-21-12). On this date, our Solar system will be center aligned , in the Milky Way's equator. Our sun will be centered in a position called "The Tree of Life", as it does every 25,800 years. In this position, unusually violent sun spot activity may cause a pole shift. Earthquakes, tsunamis, and floods will run ramped. Significant loss of life will occur. Earths magnetic field will temporarily collapse. Humans will be exposed to a cosmic energy that will facilitate enlightenment. If you would like to read about the Mayans and their predictions for the time, I have summarized them here:

Geologist Gregg Branden gave a lecture back in 1996. He spoke of how ancient traditions and beliefs, of the coming new age, can be explained in the language of modern science. Granted, it may not be "proof positive", but he does show there may definitely be something to Mayan predictions about a catastrophe (pole shift) as well as life ending as we know it.

If you take the phrase "The World As We Know It" and really look at it you will see that it comes to an end every millisecond. So in that respect the answer would be, Sure. But are you asking about the world or the Earth? Everyone's world changes within the blink of an eye. Your world can make total sense one minute and be so far from what you thought was reality in the next blink that you wonder if you died, or maybe wished you could so that you could be reborn into something new that might make sense again. As for the Earth, well that's another matter altogether. I believe that if Humanity doesn't begin to take responsibility for it's home that some day in the distant, but maybe not too distant, future we will all pay for it. We are making this beautiful place into a desolate waste with no hope for the future. But maybe that is what evolution is really all about.

The spirit world just like the physical world/nature goes through cycles. 2012 is not so much the end of the world, but the end of one cycle and the continuance into a new cycle.
The flow of a cycle depends on both ingredients and process which is largely due to choice. The start of a new cycle means a possible change in ingredients, not necessarily but probably changing results. The ingredients in this case are the greater forces i.e. archangels and stars who share their knowledge, wisdom and energy to guide development in our solar system.
2012 is not the only change of cycle we have experienced as humanity, there are many smaller and larger cycles each with their own level of infuence. Usually smaller cycles produce more tangible changes than the larger ones, which have an effect more similar to background radiation.
I personally hope that the new 2012 cycle will lead to humanity developing the ability to balance their existance as both incarnated individuals, while also being part of the greater consciousness by realising their connection and role on this planet and connection to spiritual development paths. I do believe that this process will take hundereds of years in a best case scenario.

I thought I answered this question before...
HOPEFULLY the world AS WE KNOW IT will end in 2012. However, I don't think this will be a literal destruction of the planet. Rather, it (hopefully) will come as a result of a huge, sweeping change of consciousness/Spirituality. The change from base Humanity to an elevated, more Spiritual and more United Humanity WILL change the world as we know it: no more war, people will help each other end poverty, people will work together instead of committing acts of violence and aggression.
People whom I know who discuss 2012 are viewing "the end" from this perspective, not a literal perspective. In other words, certainly not likely to be the apocalyptic-type "end of the world" being discussed here. Totally separate issue! Absolutely nothing to fear.
Peace.

All insecurity dear....
Remember, we cannot know what is going to happen at what time. But we can certainly enjoy each moment that we have with us...
Then why think of 2012 and start making our lives miserable from now?
If the world ends, who will be there to see what happens? neither you not me. Then why think of it?
Just party every day till that day, so that even if the world ends, you will not feel sad while going up with others....

The Mayan calendar (the most accurate calendar made to this day!) stops in 2012, so if they knew something we don't, things will change. They paid much attention to the sky, it may be a "Planet-killer" asteroid. Maybe they held rituals to ensure that humans (and the problems we create for every other living thing on Earth, including ourselves) would be wiped out in sacrificial blood raining from the skies. Who knows, maybe time (and everything else) will just plain stop.
I'm not sure, really, what to expect, but it's fun to speculate!
Be well,
Rave

The world isn't going to just end. First Jesus Christ will come back like a thief in the night to collect his people then sets in the tribulation (man made word for it, the bible doesn't call it the tribulation). After 7 years of the devil having reign on earth (that's what we call the tribulation) then Jesus will come again to the earth to set up his kingdom for 1000 years and to banish the devil to hell until those 1000 years are up. Then after the 1000 years on earth God will kick satan butt for good and heaven on earth will begin.
The bible says nobody knows the day or the hour that he will return to collect his people. But if your not ready for it you will be under the rule of the devil and trust me you don't want to spend eternity in hell. I will pray for you. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Christ spoke against date setting (Matthew 25:13 cf. Acts 1:7). I do not believe Christ will return in 2012 or even in the foreseeable future, because there are prophecy's which still need to be fulfilled.
