What car can I buy for less than $100000 that does a sub-10 second 1/4 mile yet practical enuf 2 go 2 work in?

erm nevergonenailyoudown have a look on youtube and type in NISSAN SKYLINE, TOYOTA SUPRA also have a look at www.dragtimes.com - there are plenty of cars on there that have posted sub-10 second runs.

There are no, I repeat NO cars you can buy that will do a sub-10 second 1/4 mile stock, let alone for under $100k. Look here: http://www.autofacts.ca/classics/fast.htm

You'll notice the top cars are all absurdly expensive exotics. The fastest you'll find under $100k would be a Corvette Z06 or Dodge Viper.

Why are you fixated on sub-10 seconds in the 1/4 mile, anyway? Don't tell me it's from "The Fast and the Furious"!

I am thinking Carrera GT Porsche while not a sub 10 second 1/4 mile car it is close. Even the 500 hp Ford GT won't make a 10 second run. It is tire traction and road tire just cannot grip hard enough.

C6 Z06. $70,000 sticker with 11 second runs on stock tires. Does high 10's in the hands of better drivers. Stock it gets 16/26 mpg. Only mod you'd really have to do is a CAGS override so you get your normal 1-2-3-4-5-6 shifting order. No Gas Guzzler tax on it either (thanks to CAGS, but its like $25 to get rid of that). To get it under 10.... well that's up to you.

How often do you see a Viper??????
I would go with the used model maybe 3-4 years old, and put some cash into the exhaust, intake,
maybe supercharger.

go for a 04 SVT cobra and tweak it slightly, stock @ 11-12 secs only like 38,000 new you could almost buy 3 for your limit :)
