I never really wanted anything but to go to Uni.
But I fell out of love with my subjects (in Aus, you get to choose and i chose a maths/science pathway)
At the moment my average is 50%.
On the boarderline.

I have tutors, supportive teachers, I just dont know how to bring up my average :(
I used to be an A student and so I never used to worry the what ifs.

I just want to know that if I failed highschool, its not the end of the world.

G'day,

In Australia, you can still do apprenticeships (after Year 10). Dun worry abt uni at the moment. Just study something above your high school certificate (like Certificate or Diploma course), find a job and continue study when you think you can do it. Quite alot of my friends from economically disadvantaged families did that and they are doing OK. Some actually got pretty high position now.

All the previous answerers are right as well... you will need to have a higher education nowadays since it will also change your way of thinking and the way you interact with ppl.

Oh another thing.... talk with the course adviser and your teachers abt your problem. Maybe you have personal problem as well?

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Yeah worst comes worst, a person must graduate from highschool. even if you ain't gonna goto university, you still have to M.U.S.T finish highschool. reason because the world today is changing form. it's more sophisticated not like your parent's generation. actually i think a university B'achelor degree should be the requirement. the career world always looks at what qualifications you have before they hire.
I'm not saying you're not capable of success by "starting up stuffs" on your own, but education gives you a "STABLE" life. those people who made it big in this world w/o much education are either:

A) F*ken Geniuses to begin with. (don't think yourself as one unless you've really been into the real world and proven it),
B) They have to constantly take alot of RISK. alot alot of RISK because they don't have the education to back themselves up. that means those who succeeded by taking risks counts for only a small number of ppl, but those who failed taking risks is really the majority count. You see them making it big on the surface but maybe at the background they've endured through alot alot of hardships to get to where they are.
C) Very very experienced people. school is only book knowledge. but to succeed in the outside world or in life, that is another set of knowledge.

Look, you must finish your highschool course no matter what. basic MINIMAL requirement for being a human being in the 21st century. you taking math/science subject maybe you got bored of it ?it's ok, there are ALOT of different pathways in university where you can transfer into those degrees that you enjoy more. but you must finish highschool first. after that you get two roads to choose:
A) Start get work experience.
B) University degree.
*about university degree: alot of people don't end up working in the field of what they study in university, so the bachelor's degree is just to "have a qualification" so that you can be hired. nowadays all the good companies require that you must have a bachelor's degree. if you don't have a degree they won't even bother interviewing you, unless you passionately love a certain subject and wish to be a researcher for that field in the future, otherwise it's just about finishing the degree in university a.s.a.p.

So finish your highschool, do a good job. It won't go wrong.
Goodluck.

Yes, you can be sucessful without a high school education. I highly doubt that you will be one of the sucess stories. Go down to the nearest strip club and watch the girls dance. That is if you have a sexy body. If not then go down and watch the teenage girls at McDonalds. The reason I say that is without highschool those are most likely your best career options. OOPs, I almost for got there is also a job you will qualify for, its callled prostitution. If you have the idea of marrying rich think about this, most rich men won't want to marry some woman who never finished high school. Good luck, you'll need it.

Those people who succeeded in spite of a high school education are often used as shining examples of "stick to it", or "in spite of overwhelming adversity" or some such SIMPLY BECAUSE they are so rare. This is more true now than 20 or more years ago. Today, businesses require a college degree not just to show that you are trained for a particular job, but for the fact that you are trainable. Often, the job you get has little to do with your degree. Hang in there.

I'm going through the exact same thing. Go see your doctor or a therapist- that's what I did. Some days I still feel upset and lonely and like not even getting out of bed, but I know I'm getting closer. It's hard, but you can't do it on your own.
