Elmo....I mean that from my stand point, there's no need for a meaning to life. we are alive, and accepting that, and making the most of it is all we can do.

I don't know why they think like that, it worries me. One thing I do know though is that life is what you make it. Life's meaning is not pre-determined and planned out; you are not a pawn in the games of the gods, nor especially singled out to be an avatar or martyr. You must find your own destiny and meaning; you must create it. You have something -- life, the here-now, the present -- and must make the best out of it. You must answer why you are here.

In my opinion, I feel that the goal of life is simple. It is to thrive, be happy, and live with honor. None of us had a "choice" in whether or not we were born, but now that we are alive we have the power to either enjoy it or end it. If you find yourself in a situation, you should strive to make the best of it. Increase your happiness. Have fun with things. If you're going to be alive anyways, you might as well have a good time while you're at it.

Well, I think that our egos lead us to believe that we have to be special or have a great purpose in some divine plan. It also gives people comfort to think that we are not alone in the universe and that death is a temporary condition. Honestly, I have no idea what the meaning of life is, and I doubt I ever will. I just listen to other people's best guesses and then try to use their ideas to come with my own ideas. At this point in life, I just want to have fun, be happy, and give joy to others.

Probably because - for them - if they cannot ascribe a "meaning" and tie up all of Life's endless questions in a simple explanation, they stand on the edge of chaos.

For them, everything has to be tightened down. There can be no "gray areas."

If life doesn't have a meaning then what's the point of getting out of bed? I want more than what this world can offer me. I want to live eternally. Without meaning most of the good things in life are just empty. Look at Paris Hilton you certainly can't accuse her of not living life to it's fullest and look at how many of her so called friends have abandoned her, distanced themselves from her right now. I know I have 1 friend who will never leave me nor forsake me.

We all find a meaning/reason to life. But I guess your getting at the often-found 'what is the point of living without God' questions. I worry about those people.

Some people need a purpose, a reason why we're here I guess.

I see no problem in making your own meaning to your own life though, it seems like a very easy solution to the problem.
