It's hard to say. I don't know what Nike's sales figures are for women's apparel and equipment, but they are definitely losing money on her to date. That's the thing about Nike though, they can afford to lose money to promote the athletes that THEY want to see be successful. Wie, just like Woods (before he was dominant) has been crammed down our throat relentlessly. Michelle should have stuck to Junior golf, won a US Amateur or two, then turned pro. Who knows now if she will ever succeed on the LPGA tour? It's just too much pressure to put on a 15-18 year old. Personally I think there is no end to her arrogance, she has no business taking spots away from "grinders" on the PGA tour by trying (so unsuccessfully) to compete with the men.

to me its gonna be like the stock market.
for the short term (1-8 years) probably not but, by the end of her career probably....hopefully
its really just a shame the way her dad is running the show. its making her look worse and worse by the minute.
if her parents were smart they would of follow the trail and blueprints of tigers run.
she was dominating the junior ranks and beating men in amateur matchplay. her next step should of been high school golf, dominate that then go to college, destroy everyone in college, then go to the LPA and win a few nabisco majors then when the time is right(when she is around 21,22 then try for the mens tour.
she was only 14,15 when she was pushed into the mens tour, and did a decent job but she is 14 and mentally she was not ready for that. most young players are never ready look at sergio garcia, ty trion, spencer levigne, and adam scott. now adam scott is a top 10 player but just like everyone he had to learn to grow up mentally and had to learn how to win. you cant do that at age 14.
there is still plenty of time for wie to revive herself but now turning 18 it will be hard because shes not this "14 year old phenomenon"
but if she wins LPA majors then joins the ranks of the PGA then her stock will go through the roof again and maybe nike will benefit from the Michelle Wie investment

I'm sorry, but she is only 17 years old.
And last time I checked, people play Golf well into their 50's and 60's....So I would say the chances are FANTASTIC that Nike will more than recoup its investment.
I mean, come on, you are asking question about Nike and Michelle so the names are out there.
Sometime it helps not to be a jerk.

Doesn't matter. Today, celebrity is all about marketability, more than ability. Nike may never recoup its investment, but they can always defend it by saying that she built their brand value!
There is a new driver in F1 named Lewis Hamilton. Marketing experts are already tipping him to earn $100-200 million per year. He hasn't done anything yet and some "experts" already expect him to earn more than Schumacher ever did.

A very small chance that they will.
Michelle Wie has been improving but is not at the level to win anything yet. One or Two more years past, you are gonna see her win and thats when nike will be prouder.

Probably not. But, they've made so much off Tiger's name that it won't ever matter to the bottom line if Wie quits golf today.

Yes, she's young....it will all work out. Too much pressure on the young athletes today. Sit back, relax and she will come around.
