God created Man , and gave us eternal life
however when man sinned, man were separated from God
religions, good deeds, were introduced, in an attempt to get back to God , but they all fell short of it.
until Jesus went on the Cross to pay for our sins, only then man had connection with God again.
that's the whole point of religion, TRY to get back to God, but failed.
so unless you accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, you'll never get back to God.

Are you going to shoot me? People kill each other over many imagined things having nothing to do with religion as well, for example, that they have a right to exploit the world's resources and not others. Can you in all sincerity say the followers of Marx's philosophy have done so much better over the long haul than the followers of the various religions in solving problems besetting humanity? Has the belief that material existence is the ultimate reality served humanity better? If so, upon what do you base your assertion? In spite of today's war of civilizations whose defining characteristic is irreconcilable religious antipathies, there is still no credible replacement for religious belief as a force capable of generating self-discipline and restoring commitment to moral behavior on a wide scale. If you think there is, please, show us.

Could be, but if there was no credibility in ancient scrolls, no one would read them.
The bible is established in history. Its words were written by real people. There is credibility and truth to be found in anything written that survives 2000 years of time. it should count for something.
I dont trust anything in that book for any kind of advice except the gospels i.e. the account of the life of Jesus. He was a pretty good role model, and thats the core of what christianity is about.
dont turn away from it because of the word Jesus. look into it out of sheer curiosity and educate youself as to the story of the man and then you'll understand why people care. you cant stand on the sidelines and ever hope to understand religion.

It's something to do on a Sunday, pass the time. BTW, people kill each other for all sorts of reasons, usually economic, small and large scale. Religious difference was just the war-cry, to enrage the masses to get them to fight. It was scientists that thought the world was flat etc. What about the scientific "truths" that have been found to be false ? Shoot away flyboy, you don't scare me. Bore me, maybe.

Because there are things that we will never be able to figure out on our own. Like how can someone living in crowded cities feel totally isolated, misunderstood and alone? Why do many people never recover from tramatic things and become obsessed with grief, fear, or guilt? If we are just biological accidents, why do we have personalities and emotions? Why do people often know things without any rational or logical explanation for how they could possibly know them? Why do any of us have an expectation that life will be fair or make sense? Little things like that. Want to shoot me down now?

SOME people need it to keep them in check, or they'd be running a muck without all the threats of Hell fire and damnation.
It's these same people who have to be closely supervised on the job or video taped to keep them in line and honest.
It's funny how they think that everyone NEEDS this to live an honest good life!
And yes, I'd have to agree that it causes more violence, hatred and ignorance than it's worth!

Most people need religion to insure immortality ,to "talk" to someone to help them through troubling times ,To lean on when they are weak ,and as a social get together with friends .
Even though there really is no god ,they congregate and meet as one believing mass of " Church Family "

people like your are always trying to destroy what faith others have in God.. who are you do do this knowing that God holy word is the truth from the front of the bible to the last page. i would advise no man to accuse God as being a lier. nor would i advise a man to go about scorning those that have faith in God ..God knows what millions of people are thinking at any given point , he deserned the thoughts and actions of all people..it is amazing how folks want to fight against God in whom they say they dont think even exzist..what the point of that for them? people have said the bible is nothing more than a funny book of lies and untruths.. i dare anyone one to claim that theory and get by with believing such vile wicked crap...God deals with men as he want to how does the clay say to the potter form me in this way or that? God is the master builder he is the creator .. each nerve ending in your whole body he desighned according to what you needed to substain life and live he gave you in your mother womb.. and here ...your words above will be read back to you at the judgment seat of christ and mr you will give and account of what you have said , but like all the other faithless people you,ll go right on believeing a pack of lies old satan has slipped into your mind...and adultress generation seek after sighn and proof ..but we who are christians walk by faith not by site...The man who only has hope in this present life on earth is a man most miserable.. his life is short and meanless because he has no hope of God or eternal life in heaven, which God has prepared for those that believe and love him..

As you said that hundreds of years ago man thought the world was flat, Now notice how I put this, (MAN THOUGHT) & NOT God. Now the bible is what God knew, & not by mans thinking, but by God's own thinking. There is a big difference between Mans thinking & God's thinking.
