What sort of volume of blood are we talking about here? If it's just a slight discharge, like the bleeding when she's coming into season, then it's probably nothing to worry about- some females dogs can have a slight discharge for a couple of weeks after whelping.

If it's anything more than that, you probably should be taking her to the vet, even if she doesn't seem distressed at this stage. As Lady D said, it is certainly possible that she may be slowly bleeding from somewhere, or have the beginnings of an infection. If you have a thermometer handy, take her rectal temperature- if it's any higher than about 39.3 C (I think that's over about 102.5 F if you're American), certainly do take her to the vet.

You should also have had her and the pups checked after she gave birth- if you didn't, it's probably a good idea to get them all looked over anyway, to make sure that mum really is healthy and that none of the pups have any congenital problems.

Hope some of that is helpful to you.

If she is still bleeding a WEEK after delivery then you do really need to either go to the vets or consider where you would like to bury her. There are a variety of problems she could be suffering.

1) there are still pups inside of her. These are dead. As they rot inside of her she will become VERY ill.

2) Pyometria. This is a SERIOUS infection of the uterus.

3) Vaginal or uterine tearing. This leaves her slowly bleeding to death.

If you are unwilling to get your animal proper vet care when she is sick then you should not have an animal. You have taken responsibility for this life and your slack attitude is rather heartless. Call a rescue group and place the animal in a home that will give her the health care that she needs.

YOUR the one that allowed her to have a litter of puppies. It's YOUR fault she's bleeding and your not taking her to the vet. What is wrong with you?

There are already to many dogs in the world without homes especially pit bulls and you have the audacity to bring yet another litter into the world!!!

Stop being a backyard breeder and get your dog spayed when she's recovered from having puppies. That is if she recovers.

YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE VETS HOW DO YOU KNOW THERE IS NOT SOMETHING INSIDE HER, MAYBE THE AFTER BIRTH DID NOT COME AWAY, THAT DOES NOT SOUND VERY GOOD, HER MATERNAL INSTINCTS AND PROTECTIIVE INSTINCTS HAVE KICKED IN, OF COURSE SHE WILL EAT SHE HAS TO FEED THE PUPPYS , NO MATTER HOW SHE FEELS, DONT BE CRUEL BORROW THE MONEY IF YOU HAVE TO BUT GET YOUR DOG TO THE VETS PLEASE, SHE SHOULD NOT BE BLEEDING , PLEASE DO THE RIGHT THING, IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO HER HOW ARE YOU GOING TO LOOK AFTER THE PUPS.

Take her to the vet. You are responsible for her. If she is like any other staffordshire I have known she would be willing to die to protect you. You can at least take care of her.

she could have an infection in her womb.. no worries if you don't alert the vets it can only get worse! She could suffer and pass it on to the pups ..my goodness use some commen sense and have her checked !
