I have a gasoline 1.5L Nissan sentra (FB15) 1999 model car. What is the normal fuel consumption for it? When I put A/C it consumes a lot. The indicator drops very fast. Normally how is the fuel consumption indicated(with or without A/C)?
Please help.
Thanks.

fuel consumption is calculated without air but it is determined by the individual driver. slow acceleration, is as important as anything to get good gas mileage. you can drive as fast as you want but if you take a few extra seconds getting up to speed you will be amazed how your mileage will improve. the air conditioner causes the engine to rev a little higher and work a little harder but it is nothing like winding the engine out to go a little faster in a shorter period of time. also your mileage will greatly improve if you only drive down hill and with the wind at your back. of course there is no telling where you will end up driving this way but just think of all the money you can save with that kind of gas mileage.

In America My 1999 Sentra 1.6 liter engined five speed manual car got 25 around town and 32 on the highway. I used Mobil 1 oil also synthetic oil in the gear box. And being from Texas we really use the air conditioner. Subtract almost 2 miles a gallon for town and 1 mile a gallon highway speeds. Cars tend to be more aerodynamic with the windows up. And subtract another 2 MPG for the Automatic Transmission. Keep it clean and waxed tires up to proper pressures.
