No, again they're equal. Remember, men wrote the "holy texts", thus it has a male bias, like a lot of other gender based values.

Inequality does exist in modern society - but it's open ended.
Women automatically take the children in most cases when a man and woman seperate or divorce. Men are not generally considered to be good enough to look after the kids - which is sexist, but tolerated.
Heterosexual men in particular have had their standing in society attacked since the emergence of political correctness, which stands for the rights of all - except heterosexual white males.
So when you say inequality, it's not a male dominated one way street is it?
As far as religion is concerned - at least western religion, women are just as involved as men in my experience, but many take different roles. Religion relies quite heavily on tradition and traditionally these religions are run by men.
It doesn't mean that men are any more spiritual than women - indeed most of the devout people I've known have been women.

Religions spring from specific historical backgrounds, and - historically - women were always tied to raising children and taking care of their families - they were sort of service personnel. Obviously, under these conditions, men had more time to develop whatever theories they pleased. Why would personnel be included into the divine scheme of things?
"The God/ Gods/ spirits established a certain order of things, a place for every living creature: a donkey to pull carts, a dog to bark on strangers, a woman to cook and give birth to children, a man to rule them all". A very widespread point of view with elaborate theoretical explanations why it is so. Muslims or orthodox Christians do not differ much in this respect from, say, Chinese or Hindu.
Many answerers here argued that the Holy Scripture or other holy document told otherwise or did not mention this at all.
But if we leave the documents out to rest and look at the *popular* tradition, i.e. what people *choose* to believe, here is a completely different game. Because at this level, the religion serves as basis for the society, and society has its own rules and purposes. Probably I'm not original in this thought, but society is a structure that strives to keep its form and to keep changes to a minimum, prevent chaos and keep things cosy and familiar.
Was this your line of thought when you asked this question?
To answer it, it would be better to invent some "spirit-o-meter", but I believe that men and women just have different "paths" to "the One above" of about the same strength :) They (men and women) are different in all other aspects (the Japanese, for instance, even have male and female forms of their language), why should they have the same understanding, feeling, and experience of spirituality?

Wrong!
In the muslim community we generally find more spiritual women than men. An example is the Y! answers R & S Section : there are more muslim women than men
Moreover look at statistics: 80% of converts to Islam are women! You are right even though I am a man and a religious muslim, I will still accept the fact the women are generally more spiritual than men. A sort of sarcasm is thus found in our regular society.
But as we see, Muslim men are more better leaders than women, women are the best support for men. I am not a sexist. All in all men and women are both equal if all the traits are taken into account, and the fact that one cannot live without the other still remains a fact

If anything women in general are spiritually stronger than men. However individually I do think men can become stronger than a woman mostly because of the priesthoods and other offices of a church and the responsibility's God has given the man. The Lord gave men the responsibility of being the spiritual leader and provider in the home and the woman the responsibility of being the caretaker and mother. It isn't that the lord looks upon a woman as the weaker sex but has given her the responsibility better suited to her emotional make up. A women can be the provider and spiritual leader in the home but it is overwhelming when coupled with having children and trying to raise them. A man also can when needed raise children however the same thing applies, he is often overwhelmed when trying to do all of it himself. A man is physically built to work and a woman more capable of motherhood. Simply put the lord looks upon the job of motherhood as being as important as spiritual leadership. And as far as being a spiritual leader he does not want a mother having to leave her children to spiritually lift or bless others when she was needed to raise her own children and bless them. While the man could go and bless a sick or needy person with out disruption to his children's welfare.

I don't believe men are spiritually stronger. In fact most women are more in tune with their spiritual side than men. Look at churches etc--women are the most involved, most constant in attendance, etc. And it's not because we're "weak" but because we feel a response in ourselves to God.
Jesus' most faithful followers were women. Mary Magdalene reported the Resurrection--and the guys didn't believe her!
Paul's best supporters were women (read Acts and Romans). When Peter was freed from jail by the angel, Rhoda announced he was at the door--and the *men* told her she must be crazy!
Perhaps some women are less control-hungry in the material world because of this spiritual growth--it's hard to do both all the time.

Ever since God was changed from a woman into being a man around the time that Judaism got its start, religion has placed women under the thumbs of men. Gender has nothing to do with the strength of a person's spirituality.

If one were to accept that spiritual progress is easier when one loosens attachment to possessions and distractions in everyday life, then both genders are on equal terms. However, there are also the very strong biological urges. In most women, the maternal urge is very strong, not least because of the monthly reminder to the whole process. I have heard it said that this is a big hindrance. But then one could argue that the biological urge in men to help the process, given half a chance, is pretty strong, too!!!

I am a man but I don't think men is spiritually stronger than women. One indicator that you can measure advancement in spirituality is the degree to love others unconditionally. In this case, I think women are better than men. Furthermore, women tend to be more selfless and egoless than men and that is a sure sign of advancement in spirituality.

I believe in a Goddess and God. They are a matched set with very important functions. They represent the spiritual duality that must be balanced and respected for life.
Society may contrast the masculine and feminine all it cares to...that's only natural. What isn't natural is giving precedence to one or the other. It doesn't work and ultimately is undone in time. Let's move forward in time and try to see the equality already implied everyday.
