You sound like a level-headed guy. I too try to use logic and reason when I act. Emotions are too unreliable and unpredictable to use for making decisions in most cases. There are times when you need to follow your heart, but it is the exception to the rule.
Somehow I get the feeling that you are asking this question out of frustration at some of the ridiculous answers people put on YA.

I read once, that there is nothing more powerful than an idea whose time has come. I'd like to add; just because an idea's time has come, doesn't make it a good idea.
I'm not Spock (which is the title of a very good book by L.Nemoy)! Intuition is a feeling, and has just as much validity as logic, in our lives. Try arguing with goose-bumps, the next time you hear a song your soul loves. Don't think about it, it's not a lab rat, born to be dissected. Feel the music, experience the knee-jerk reactions of life.
(I don't mean you personally)

Good question.
I would have to say...I FULLY ADVOCATE the use of logic, as emotions really DO have the extreme power to rule one's actions. But there is a measure of difficulty here...in that, females are more prone to be driven by emotion, and the biological fact,(OF COURSE) is that hormones rule our emotions too, so once a months, us women turn into emotional beasts.
I fight the overall over-usage of emotions and the subsequent falling prey to them. In our day and age; not many care about the emotions; (hurt, pain, abandon, etc....) of others. So, that makes things difficult too.
I say a healthy BALANCE should be acquired. As it is best for optimal mental health. If I allow my FEAR (an emotion), my fear of what the world has become, and future biblical events unfolding.....if I let that fear OWN me, I would be useless to my children, and would likely cease to function at all.
Again,....GOOD question.

Hm, it seems you think that emotions are not taking place in the head. I think both emotions and logical thinking are functions of the brain, though probably different sections of it. This also means that you cannot free your thinking of emotion. But of course you can always review your thoughts and try to apply objective logical standards, and it's a good idea to do this once in a while.

Logic is best because emotions can be misleading. However if something really sad happens then I guess it is perfectly normal to react emotionally. Once you have satisfied that emotional need it is probably better to deal with the aftermath in a logical way.

I believe I am a balanced person capable of dealing with situations logically and people emotionally, and vice versa, as needed. I also believe that emotion and logic should coexist in harmony.
When these beliefs fail me, I resort to bribery, larceny, extortion and any other activity that allows me to continue my daily routine with a minimum of fuss.
Reaction is action in the wake of new information.

I think emotions are the stimulus for action and the reward or punishment for actions but logic should come into play in determining what actions to take to achieve the desired result.
Emotions generate energy and logic channels that energy.

It's generally a combination of both that I react from. We were created with the ability to reason and to feel things, so it's important to use them both. At the same time, it's important to not let all decisions be dominated by feeling or reason, because they can cause problems if used alone.

I believe the world would be very dull. I don't think art, poems, theatre, or even music would even exists! It takes emotion to produce those things. Art, theatre, and music are ways people express their emotions. It would be a very quite, black and white world.
