Hello! What a frustrating situation...been in it plently of times myself. Most of the time, this method works, well it did on my Citroen Xsara and Peugeot 206. Put the key to be programmed into the ignition and turn the ignition on. Press and hold the lock button for no more than 5 secs. Taked it out, close the door and try it. If not, your key may be faulty, in need of more than just a battery change.
Good luck anyway!

Oh my goodness, horrible answers.
The remotes do not change, the vehicle adapts to accept the new code.
Simply put the key in the ignition, and turn to the on position, then back, and on, then back, several times until the doors lock/unlick themselves. (should take less that 20 turns, do not start the vehicle)
Simply depress the unlock, and then lock on the remote afterwards. Viola! Re-coded car.
Enjoy!

You need to take both the car and the fob to a Renault dealer.
They will reprogramme the car to recognise the fob (the fobs are not reprogrammable, the cars are).
You will have to take proof of ID (e.g. photocard driving licence) and proof of ownership (e.g. registration document), as reprogramming is a security issue.
