If he feels called to preach, he should obey the call. As far as his relatives, Jesus Himself said that belief in Him would divide families. He may lose his relatives, but he has gained many brothers and sisters who are fellow believers, who will support him and help him in his ministry.
Tell your Muslim friend to remember that God told Abraham to leave his relatives, and he did, and shared a wonderful relationship with God because of his obedience, and look how God rewarded him for his obedience.
God may very well use him to reach out to other Muslims, showing them the truth of God's Word, or he may have him become a mainstream preacher, but in any case, tell him to heed the call. God has a ministry for him that only he can fill, or He would have called someone else to do it.

He should pray, attend church every time the doors are open, and volunteer for many different activities in the community and the church. Meditate on the possibility that his true calling could be as a seed planter, or a gardener. Not everyone is called to help bring in the harvest.

According to The Gospel of St. Matthew your friend shall be "wise as a serpent and harmless as a dove", and "beware of men" (his foes as well as his muslim relatives and friends).
Now, a serpent is not wise in the human way, and a dove can be quite harmful (eating most of the germinating peas in your garden and also spreading its excrements and with them some dangerous viruses. Your friend should think about this.
The Christian message is no longer anything new as it has more or less dominated our World for two thousand years and in many ways has contradicted itself uncountable times.
Going thru the Gospels with all their admonitions and hell menaces is not so good for my mental digestion and for the serene glow of my soul. I then feel that we are doomed to go further, much further than good old Christianity, but I don't really know where. I just hope that we may go further in our development in a less murderous and less unjust way.
The Gospel of St. Matthew declares that we must "beware of men" and, indeed, we must beware of Christians as much as we must beware of other religious systems, as humans are the most ferocious of beasts and as their blunt admonishing power-seeking leaders (and their acolytes) will always expect your humble obedience and will always be eager to condemn you to death and to the ever scorching fire of Hell if you do not surrender and obey "the Law". The followers of Jesus down thru the centuries did indeed make great use of deadly punishments and eagerly burned to death heretics and their books, and witches, and rebellious souls, and bright philosophers, and sincere scientists, etc.
Christian leaders, Pastors, want devoted christians, their herd. The holy learning is passed on by those leaders unto us and we are expected to graciously listen to the prayers that we have learned from them, and piously repeat their litanies at church and in our private home, and so we are not to be of this world but of yonder angelic world.
Anyway, it is good of your friend to get concerned, it means that the concerned person thinks, and so may become more conscious, and more conscious about many things, and that may help him to be "wise as a serpent and harmless as a dove", and "beware of men" (his foes as well as his muslim relatives and friends) and so to become even more than that.

I cant understand the feeling that he has, but it must be great. To finally find the truth after following lies his whole life. He should know that as Christians we are to give up everything to follow Christ. Even if it means to be hated by his family. He should start by ministering to them. That way he wont have any distractions.
