A bonus is something extra or additional given freely. An "extra bonus" is something extra on top of the usual bonus.
For instance, loyalty programs usually allow you to collect points, and they might say, you get bonus points if you use a certain credit card together with your loyalty card. Then once in a rare moon they'll offer an extra bonus, where you might get thousands of points if you buy certain products within a particular period.

Depends on the context. In marketing, advertising or games "extra bonus" or "double bonus" would raise few eyebrows. But in other serious writing it would be a bit over the top.

It's a tad redundant, but that gets our attention, especially the word "extra" since x's are so unusual in English.

by saying extra bonus points - bonus mean extra anyway
its like saying "i like extra lots of cheese please"
