Has this ever happenned to you? I called a prayer line and they yelled at me?

Question

I was hoping for some kind, godly counsel about how god forgives me and wants to help me, but the lady just started yelling, literally yelling, at me to repent. Then when I was like ok, she was like "what do you mean ok!?" It wasn't a good experience. The issue in question was smoking, not some heinous crime. Do you think that was the appropriate way for her to respond? I don't somehow imagine God would scream at me for making a mistake. Yes, I do believe in repentance and I know it means to turn from sin, and I want to repent and smoke no more, but there was a total lack of forgiveness or the idea that God would help me and loves me in spite of myself.

i hope that this negative experience will not discourage you from seeking prayer and counsel from believers in the future. i don't know the prayer hotline you are referring to, but wow, a person who serves in that capacity -- should definitely exhibit the heart of Christ.

The Bible is very clear that God loves us and he loves us where we are. Feel free to email me and i'd love to pray for you and also just listen to any questions you may have and will answer them truthfully and with the kindness of Christ.

Yes I know the kind of lady your talking about. Sadly, my mother is like this at times. And she's Catholic and knows the Bible really well. I turned away from God. Because my thinking was, if this is how someone acts when they know God so well, I can imagine how God really is.
But, that is not how God is. I found that I need to have a personal relationship with Him myself. And ask God and pray and bring my own concerns directly to Him.
I am very sure now that people do not all act this way. And to tell you the truth, people that are close to God seem to be pretty mean because Satan works to direct them away from God. Sometimes, it appears their mean. But, that is for sure Satan himself doing his cruel acts.
But just so you also know there are some wonderful people that are religious. And their gentle and kind and very sweet. Find those people to trust and talk to.

I once called the prayer line for the 700 Club and the woman let me know, in no uncertain terms, that unless I paid money to join the 700 Club, she wasn't going to pray for me. When I told her I was broke, she hung up on me. Some Christians, huh?

I went on line to the Brooklyn Tabernacle and asked prayer. it fairly is genuine consumer-friendly and that they pray 24 hours an afternoon. human beings volunteer to desire for one hour and that theycontinual to the Church and pray for all the requests. At any given time they have approximately 20 human beings praying, even interior the wee hours of the morning. surprising.

Then we have to consider maybe she was having a bad day and it all came out wrong. forgive her and do not let the devil steal what u are doing for God.
He will use anything to distract you and keep u from moving on.
