I got one of my cats declawed about a year ago, she was a year old. At first I was just going to get the front done, that was going to cost $85 dollars, which included the anesthesia, the procedure and 2 nights stay at the vets. But I decided to get all 4 feet done and the price was $150. She did really well with it too, and recovered quickly and never have had a problem with her.

When I did my cat, it was a couple years ago, but it was around $65. They do laser declawing now, which is probably more expensive, but certainly worth the faster healing and less pain for the cat.

Please go to www.declawing.com for answers to many common questions.
Just one questions though, if you had a dog and it chewed on something, would you have all its teeth pulled out? Or if it scratched on the door, would you have it declawed? Of course not, so what makes it acceptable to do it to a cat?
You would train the dog what not to do and you can train a cat also. Try using a spray bottle filled with water. Squirt the cat when it does something you don't like. Also give the cat a few places it can scratch, posts, mats, etc.
Try sticky paws, clear plastic strips that attach to places you want to keep you cat away from. Also soft claws, they go over your cats claws.
Have you tried trimming your cats claws? Its just like clipping your nails and it keeps them from damaging anything they happen to scratch on.
All it takes is patience and you both can be happy.
On a side note, I've know cats that were very sweet before being declawed and their personalities did a 180 after. They no longer liked being picked up and some became agressive.
Please try some of the other solutions mentioned before having the drastic and painful surgery, they do work.
Good luck.

I got my cat declawed at the same time he was neutered. I think it was at 9 months.
Animal rights people probably think neutering is cruel too, hmmm?

why in the world would you TORTURE your cat like that?
there is NEVER a GOOD reason to declaw a cat. why do you have a cat then? it should be banned in the US like it is in most of the world.

Declawing a cat is cruel. That's why many vets won't do it. How would you like it if someone cut of the first joint of all your fingers? That's exactly what they do to the cats. It's not just the claws their removing.

Not recommended and many vets won't do it. However, if you are going to anyway (no comebacks, and please, no I must do this posts), then CALL A LOCAL VET AND FIND OUT!
