I live in Seahide Heights for half of the year, and go crabbing all the time. We go off one of the piers with some cut up chicken, and usually can catch about 50 crab. Sadly, in the past few years the crab size has declined extremely and it's nothing like it used to be. I wouldn't say that they are in season yet, I find the most to be in the middle of summer.

Blue claw crabs were plentiful last year, and so far, this year, it looks like the same story. They are all along the Jersey coast as well as the Long Island South Shore. Right now, they are out there ready for the picking.
