Soldiers hands down.
Your Army Infantry trains hard every day of the year. They train in urban, desert, jungle, mountain and woodland. The idea that a grunt goes to basic training and has learned all he will learn is ludicrous. Basic training is the beginning, following that he goes to advanced infantry school and then he trains with his squad at his unit daily for years using the most advanced combat tactics, equipment and training facilities.
SWAT tactics are not combat tactics. They are designed to eliminate a hostile individual opposed to a group of hostiles. Soldiers train to eliminate large forces and would wipe the floor with a SWAT team. That and the Army fields far more powerful weapons than any police force.

Depends on which soldiers you are talking about...?
SWAT would die and never see the Army. Army has weapons that fire from 15 miles out and the SWAT Team would be little bits of meat on the walls.
As for the military's 'Basic Training', yes, that's Basic. The course is meant to teach the basics of being a soldier. Marching, saluting, etc...Then the soldier goes onto their individual training which determines what job they have. Those Admin Clerks would have a SWAT sniper take them out through a window of their office. Combat Arms soldiers would just train in on the heat of the SWAT team and then blow the city block up with an Artillery round. Or my favorite, a tank rolling down the road with a 120mm Cannon, 7.62 Machine gun for troops and .50 Cal Heavy Machine Gun.

S.W.A.T. stands for Special Weapons and Tactics and are composed of law enforcement personnel. They are deployed in special cases where the police force is unable to arrest or to capture the suspects, or if the suspects are heavily armed, then SWAT is deployed.
Now, if a SWAT team were to go up against a USMC Scout/Sniper Team, I'd place all my bets on the Grunts, as they are trained to be the very best there is. No exceptions to this rule.

It would probably be soldiers. Swat, as police officers, are trained to avoid taking lives if possibly, whereas the objective of the military is to kill, capture, or disable the enemy in order to win the battle. Additionally- the military has the option to use weapons that would not be allowed by be used by a civilian entity

It depends on the soldiers. Most combat arms units (infantry, artillery, combat engineers), MPs, and pretty much all of Special Ops units, would tear a SWAT Team a new one. Just about every unit that expects to go on patrols in Iraq get SWAT type training, since they may have to do room-by-room and house-to-house fighting.

S.W.A.T, hands down! The kind of training they go through far out does the Army's basic training-hence the words 'basic training'. Now the Rangers and S.W.A.T, there's something to see!

Where does it say in the original question anything about "basic training".
SWAT dont have air support, or armour backup.
SWAT have less members than a normal Army Unit, Platoon, etc..
The question has multiple answers based on where will the battle be fought, Urban Combat or Rural setting.

Situation dependent answer.
Your average army infantry unit would probably get slaughtered by a SWAT team in CQB, since CQB is a SWAT teams bread and butter. Now if you are talking about a Delta team I would bet on the Delta guys for the win.

depends, if it was a battle in a closed area with an hour to win or lose, i dare say SWAT would kick ***....
Put both teams anywhere in a 50 mile radius in the forrest... Army would kill them 5 times before they hit the ground.
SWAT are generally a stand out in organised manouvers, Army thrive in disorganisation... its a big generalisation, but just my 2 cents...
