I just watched this on tv last night and it was costing a Lady $2000.00 for her dogs broken leg. What you need to do is contact the aspca and ask if they can help or if they know of any place that can. There are some organizations that help people pay for animals in need of medical treatment. Can you get pet insurance? I am surprised that you are asking this question while your poor dog is sitting there in pain wondering if he's worth the cost of treatment. Please do that poor thing a favor and surrender him to the aspca so they can adopt him out to someone who will take care of him no matter what the cost may be. I know you probably hate me for saying this and I couldn't care less about that or about having the best answer, I am only interested in your dog!!

I'm so sorry about your baby... I know they are as much a part of the family as your own kids are.. almost. But, that was a shame that the emergency animal hospital didn't even take care of the broken leg. I don't understand that at all. I am sure your vet will let you pay on payment plan of some type, but make sure to tell him that those people did not fix your dogs leg. See what he says. $150.00 bucks.. what are these animal hospitals going to do next... take your arm and leg?? I think they already did.. I'm so, so very sorry. I will keep you and the dog in prayer.

Take your dog to the vet. Just considering that a prior pup's broken leg didn't require surgical procedure does no longer imply that if this puppy has broken a leg that it will not have to be surgically repaired or put in a cast or splint. As you yourself mentioned, the two injuries happened in a different way which means they could be completely exclusive accidents. Some types of fractures are very steady and might heal on their possess for those who conveniently avert undertaking. Others aren't stable and will require some type of stabilization in order to heal properly or else you're going to become with a young dog with crippling arthritis. At the same time you might be at the vet, which you could ask them how long they think it is going to take the damage to heal. They're going to be competent to provide you with a significantly better answer than someone right here on YA who may just or would possibly not have any medical advantage at all.

Tell your vet money is an issue. There are some programs in some cities to help people help their dogs. Check with your local humane society as well for any low cost info.
As far as cost? That depends on your area and your vet and what kind of fracture it is and how damaged the leg is.
I spent $1200 many years ago to fix 2 broken front legs. That was at UC Davis with a world famous specialist. The area specialist would have charged me over $2,000. At the time Davis was subsidized and cost less. My dog had 4 plates put in his legs.
Healed up super well and got titles after his legs healed.

Get the dog help he is suffering, imagine you sitting there waiting for someone to decide if you were worth fixing your leg. If you couldnt afford med care for you pet you shouldnt have gotten a pet that is horrible. You are not going to fix the dog up this is not the 1800s where we didnt know any better. Get the dog the proper care and pay by the month if you have to. The poor poor dog, we look at the cruelty of animal cruelty in poor countries due to lack of education, but you should know better. If you cannot help the animal adopt it out after you pay for it. Do the world a favor and remain without a pet for your entire life. If you love the dog you will find a way if you dont I would like you to feel what the animal is feeling right now and let me decide how to fix you up.

Take your puppy to the vet. Just in view that a earlier doggy's damaged leg didn't require surgical procedure does now not imply that if this dog has damaged a leg that it would possibly not must be surgically repaired or installed a forged or splint. As you your self mentioned, the 2 accidents occurred otherwise which means that they would be thoroughly exceptional accidents. Some varieties of fractures are very steady and will heal on their possess if you happen to with no trouble preclude recreation. Others don't seem to be steady and would require a few variety of stabilization so as to heal correctly otherwise you're going to turn out to be with a tender puppy with crippling arthritis. While you're on the vet, you'll be able to ask them how lengthy they consider it's going to take the damage to heal. They shall be competent to deliver you a miles larger reply than any person right here on YA who would possibly or won't have any scientific skills in any respect.

My Chihuahua broke her hind leg jumping of the high arm of the couch and took her to the vet immediately, they put a cast on her and it cost me a total of 300$ - no chump change by anymeans, but the cost will probably vary from vet to vet, Anyways Animal Hospitals tend to be more expensive than a visit to the Vets, best of luck and I'd like to hear how your lab turns out. Keep the Faith.

I don't have any experience with that, i'm sorry, but what I would do is call your vet in the morning and ask how much... call around if it is too much, there might be other vets who would charge less.
I can't believe for 150 dollars they didn't do any more than that! That's just awful... 39 dollars is all my vet charges for a pure exam, and it sounds like that's all they gave him... i could understand if they xrayed or splinted him or gave him pain meds or something, but... i wouldn't have paid that for no help at all, i'm sorry, i would have insisted they help him right then or charge less.

This will depend on the area you live in the vet you take him to. It also depends on where the break is and is it just one break.Talk to yor vet about your money problems.
Also check with you humane society, and SPCA they may be able to help.
Good Luck.
