In my home country Indonesia, you are going to be persecuted if you share your joy in Christ to Moslem. They said you are christening them, trying to convert their faith.

For me, I have to share the good news to everybody. It is up to them to receive or not. How the best way to do it?
Why are we being persecuted?

As I understand it, in the heart of Indonesia, the worlds most populous Muslim country, the Muslim extremist fighting force, Laskar Jihad, seek out and persecute Christians.

Most Indonesian Christians are mainly from a Muslim background, and when some extremists complain to the government that a Christian group, church, and/or pastor
are causing religious disharmony (whether it is the truth or not). When the government fails to act, Muslim extremists call the Laskar Jihad army in, and they have been known to burn down churches, beat up & torture members & pastors.

Christianity is growing by leaps and bounds in Indonesia.
The moderate Moslem's want tolerance for other religions, and IF Christians do not try to convert Muslims to Christianity.

And although some regions like Aceh and Tasikmalayah have locally imposed Islamic (sharia) law to the dismay of Christians in the area, a move to extend sharia to the entire country was opposed even by the leaders of the leading Islamic organizations last July.

This tolerant attitude for Christians and Indonesian refusal to impose national Islamic (sharia) law infuriates extremist groups within Indonesia and raises their fears and so they attack Christians.

The leaders of Indonesia's two largest Muslim organizations, the Nahdatul Ulama and Muhammadiyah, invited Christian leaders in January 2002 to form the National Coalition for Internal Peace, a forum where Christians and Muslims dialogue to create more understanding between the two communities.

But problems remain.

The same leaders of the Islamic organizations privately warned, We will tolerate you Christians if you ensure you do not try to convert Muslims.

There are "Open Door" Christian ministries all over Indonesia
There is one in Madiun, East Java. Here is Open Door's website you will find some helpful information there. (www.opendoorsusa.org).

They know your country and they can help you, & tell you the very best ways to share Christ's Good News, and how to lessen your chances of being harmed for your beliefs.

God bless!

Unfortunately, Christians have a history of missionary work that goes beyond just sharing your beliefs. The world is full of examples of poor people being coerced into Christianity with money and food and shelter. There is no decency in this.

To help the poor only until they accept Christ and then to abandon them only to use their natural resources to fuel your own hidden agendas does not fit into religion, it fits into politics.

Everybody knows, that when a devout Christian is treating you nice, theyre only doing it because they want to further their cause, not because they really care about you. If this was the case, we wouldnt have any poor people in Africa anymore, with the amount of 'help' the missionaries are giving them.

Well, there is no harm in sharing beliefs with one another; we do that all the time where I come from and in other Islamic countries I have been to. I have had many non-Muslim friends and this was never an issue.
We should be tolerant of what others believe and treat it as knowledge when sharing beliefs.
Cheers.

May the Lord bless your desire to share the good news of Christ! You should not marvel that we will be persecuted! This was for told in the Bible. How wonderful that you are willing to share Christ in the face of persecution! This is in the spirit of early Christians who endured much persecution and death for sharing the good news! Remember what Christ endured? The apostles? We also must be willing to follow our Lord and this may include much suffering. Remember to draw on strength from the Lord because with God all things are possible!
Romans 8:35-39 says, "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered." No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
You are in my prayers! May the Lord bless your ministry of sharing Christ and winning souls!

yes i agree with you,,
i live in indo,, im catholic,,i often hear something like that too

i think we (christian/catholic) just can share our joy with christian/catholic religion only but we also can do that with modern moslem who is open minded, and doesnt fanatic,,
moslem may afraid because they are the major in the country, and they feel owner of the country because all the rules and anything depend on their voices,, and they afraid we convert their faith into christian/catholic so they cant take the control of the country if they are not the major religion anymore,,

I think Islam as a whole is going through an identity crisis. While most of its adherents remain tolerant(tough not always open minded) the religion itself has managed to get an image of intolernce, anger, violence and other such negatives.
Indonesia in the past had a different religion and a very rich culture.Once this gulf money sponsored version of narrow minded Islam goes into decline, your country will hopefully go back to its rich past of cultural richness and religious tolerance.Islam functions best when it remains true to the country's culture and does not senselessly ape the cultural traditions of the Arabs.

The very fact that you are a Christian and living in a Muslim
country is proof of Muslim tolerance to other religions and
Christians are in good numbers in Indonesia and it is a balant
lie to say that you are being persecuted there just to get people to malign Islam.

yes they have the right to ask you not to propagate your religion that will corrupt the people there. But they allow you to practice your religion and this is more than enough.

What is the good news you want to share,That there are three
gods in one God,That jesus [pbuh ] is a God or a son of God
That God died for your sins and left the world unattended for
three days ?That woman can uncover themselves and go
around half naked, that you and commit murder, rape, incest,
enjoy alcohol and pork, commit adultly ,love your neighbours
wife, covert thy neighbours goods, throw your infants in
garbage bins, and leave your old parents to fend for themselves in old aged homes and then Lo and behold !
all you have to do is believ that christ died for your sins and
you are saved ???

As against islam , which says worship one God Your Creater,
Pray 5 times a day, fast, give charity to the poor,Honour your
parents in old age, dress modestly and hands out punishment
to those who murder. rape, steal ,etc.Islam shows you practical ways of attaining salvations not easy ways !

Because exclusively Muslim countries are highly intolerant of other faiths, and interpret their hard-line attitudes towards those other faiths with the Quran to back them up. Interpreting passages in books makes a great way to legitimize a narrow-minded view, if one so chooses to deliberately be narrow-minded.

We muslims belieave that Jesus (peace be upon him) as messenger of god ...who came before mohammed salallahu alaihi wasallam to guide the people of israel...

Jesus (peace be upon him) was gifted by god with the healing touch through which he could cure people's diseases as his period of prophecy had diseases common among people.

Jesus(peace be upon him) had a miraculous birth without the help of a biological father and had the power to speak in his infancy.

Mary (peace be upon her) is held as the first ideal women for muslims.

when you are gonna say that the messenger of god is god which is not true .then its not right.

again and again, it depends on the country that you live in and its laws.....it's not from Islam at all not to let non-muslims to practise their rituals or religion.
In my country, all Christians celebrate their feasts and everything they want, they are equal to us and we to them.
it's the laws in your country that are wrong and it's far from Islam kindness and peacefulness.
