What is blasphemy against the spirit? It emanates from the heart, revealing a malicious attitude and intent. To sin against the holy spirit is to oppose it willfully. It involves a wicked heart condition that reaches the point of no return.
"On this account I say to you, Every sort of sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the spirit will not be forgiven. For example, whoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the holy spirit, it will not be forgiven him, no, not in this system of things nor in that to come." -- Matthew 12:31,32
"However, whoever blasphemes against the holy spirit has no forgiveness forever, but is guilty of everlasting sin." -- Mark 3:29
"Then the high priest ripped his outer garments, saying: “He has blasphemed! What further need do we have of witnesses? See! Now YOU have heard the blasphemy." -- Matthew 26:65
"And a great hail with every stone about the weight of a talent descended out of heaven upon the men, and the men blasphemed God due to the plague of hail, because the plague of it was unusually great." -- Revelation 16:21

There is a misunderstanding about the verses that mention the unpardonable sin. (Matthew 12:31&32)
This concerns a certain situation in which Jesus was healing people in the name of God. The Pharasees claimed that Jesus was doing this through the power of Satan even though it was clearly being done by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Because Jesus is not present physically in the world any longer the circumstances that created this situation cannot be duplicated. It is impossible to commit the unpardonable sin today. The only persons who ever did commit it are the Pharasees who had seen proof of Christ's deity but instead of acknowledgeing God, they attributed the supernatuaral power to Satan instead of the Holy Spirit.
Suicide does not qualify either. A person's place in eternity is decided by his relationship with Jesus not on whether he kills himself in a fit of pain or mental instability.

When you become a Christian the Holy Spirit comes to dwell within you. He is God alive as a part of you. Jesus died so you may be reunited with God.
If you have been redeemed and decide to turn your back on God because you want to be your own god you are denying God's greatest gift to you. You are saying the Holy Spirit is worthless, in effect, and you would be better off without any of God in your life.
Jesus died once, for everyone. He will not be crucified again.
Suicide is a way of saying that God is not sufficient to sustain you, that there is no hope with Him.
The denial is once again becoming a non-believer after tasting God's goodness and there is no return to God's favor since there is no second sacrifice.
Hebrews 6:4-6

Jesus said that 'blasphemy against the holy spirit' was unforgivable. And Paul said that there is no sacrifice for sins left for one who practices sin willfully despite knowing the truth. (Luke 12:10; Hebrews 10:26, 27)
Granted, one who takes his own life deprives himself of the opportunity to repent of his self-murder. But who can say whether one driven to suicide might have had a change of heart had his fatal attempt failed? Some notorious murderers have, in fact, changed and earned God’s forgiveness during their lifetime.—2 Kings 21:16; 2 Chronicles 33:12, 13.
Thus, Jehovah, having paid “a ransom in exchange for many,” is within his right to extend mercy, even to some self-murderers, by resurrecting them and giving them the precious opportunity to “repent and turn to God by doing works that befit repentance.”—Matthew 20:28; Acts 26:20.

great quote:
'blasphemy is a victimless crime'
- unknown
suicide, on the other hand, is a crime that has exactly one victim (not counting friends and family) so I guess that makes it worse.
but, the idea of an 'unforgivable sin' casts serious doubt on God's 'omnipotence' doesn't it? how can He not forgive something? surely He can do anything He wants.
the same - incidentally - goes for the idea of Hell. how can God not be able to save those souls, if He truly wants to? if God is omnipotent and truly loves those sinners, He should do everything in his power to get them out of that eternal, firey pit.
so you can either go with the idea of universal salvation - which is cool - or you can admit that hell, unforgivable sin and probably God don't exist after all.

as far as suicide, I think that only God knows what is in a person's heart, and that it is up to God, not just automatically unforgivable. the other question, I understand it to be blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is the unforgivable sin, refusing to let the Holy Spirit speak through you in the last days if you are delivered up to the antichrist.

blasphemy against the Holly Spirit is the unforgivable sin- I believe it means like if you see some one doing something of God , and it is truly of God and you say this is not of God rebuking the person , this is my understanding, no you are not going to hell, if you are a christain or I should say saved, ask God to forgive you he will , ask him in the name of Jesus,
Suicide is considered A unforgivable sin because it is sin-and you [the person]is dead they cannot ask for forgiveness. if you confess with your mouth the lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God hath raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

There are those who believe suicide is a sin because one cannot ask for forgiveness and repent after they are dead. There is a scripture in the bible that says all sins will be forgiven except for blasphemy of the holy spirit (rejecting God).
Personally, I believe all sins are forgiven if one is truly sorry and changes their ways.

I believe when Jesus spoke of blaspheming the holy spirit as the unforgivable sin, he meant not accepting himself (Jesus).
The Bible says when you accept Christ, you are forgiven of your sins (past, present and future) and given the Holy Spirit, which will dwell within you for the rest of your life.
To not accept Christ is to not accept the Holy Spirit, i.e. to blaspheme him.
When Christ died on the cross, he wiped EVERYONE's sins clean. The only sin left, the only one his sacrifice couldn't cover, was not to accept that gift.
Thus those who do accept Christ, and in so doing accept the Holy Spirit, are forgiven and go to Heaven.
Those who don't have committed the unforgivable (and only remaining) sin and go to Hell.
