The woman was named Gomer. The man was Hosea.
When Gomer left Hosea and became the slave of one of her lovers, Hosea bought her back at God’s command for the price of a slave. Gomer’s unfaithfulness and Hosea’s forgiveness symbolized God’s forgiving love for unfaithful Israel.

I assume you mean the "He who casts the first stone" story...?
It was just some random prostitute. Mary Magdalene was labeled as that prostitute much later. Here's the kicker: that story isn't in the oldest versions of the Bible that we have access to. It's not even supposed to be there. And with good reason! If Jesus followed Jewish law (as he was supposed to), he would have demanded the woman to be stoned as well. It's a nice story, but it doesn't fit with his character.

Unless you're referring to a poetic allusion to the nation of Israel, the only prostitute I can think of is Rahab (joshua chapter 2) or perhaps Tamar pretending to be a prostitute in Genesis 38.

The only prostitute I remember is Rahab. No other woman who is named was a prostitute.
And no, it's not Mary, the mother of Jesus. She was not a prostitute.

Rahab was a prostitute who lived in the city of Jericho.
She is an ancestor to David and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (Read Matthew 1:5).
In the famous chapter of faith (Hebrews 11), she is one of two women mentioned.

There was the woman who was caught in the act of adultery.
i believe she was a prostitute. A whole crowd of people stood around to
stone her, but
jesus in his power and peace drew in the sand, maybe just for himself, but it most likely had an importance.
anyways he says whoever hasn't sinned cast the first stone.
everyone left, the elders first, then it was only
Jesus.
so has anyone judged you he said? she said no.
and he responded, neither do
i, now go in peace and sin no more.
(paraphrased) from
john 8:1-11

Scott has the right answer, it is Gomer, Hosea the Prophet of Israel (can be found in the book of Hosea.) Wife was a prostitute God directed him to marry her to show God's love for Israel. (As Israel kept deserting God and prostituting themselves to other god's but god kept taking them back.

I am just amazed how many people say Mary Magdeline. Now where in the Bible do they find that one? People really need to stop mixing up the Bible with Hollywood movies!
