my artist suggests waiting atleast 4 weeks there is so much bacteria and germs in water and you really don't want any of that getting in your new tattoo. it could lead to all kinds of infections and gross stuff. so stay out of pools, hot tubs, lakes, rivers, oceans.... all that jazz.

wait until it is completely healed. you don't want any of the bacteria in the water to get into the open wound of the tattoo. you shouldn't soak the tattoo in the bath, pool, hottub, ocean until it is healed. And keep it moisturized once you do go in the pool. chlorine will dry your skin out.

2 hours! but don't scrub it! just lightly with your hand rub some suds over the tattoo! then rinse it off! never put the water directly on the tattoo let the water role over it! then pat dry! put some fresh ointment on it and leave it alone! i learned a little trick to keep it from itching. Put some ice next to the tattoo where it has no ink! rub the ice all around it but not directly on it! the ice will get the nerves around the tattoo to calm down and it won't itch!
