There may be a leaking freeze plug you will need to remove the manifold to replace it, I have seen some leak from the head gasket as well. Either way it would like be worth the time and work if you do it yourself to fix it. It is not a hard repair to do. Good Luck and GOD Bless

most likely it is the head gasket. if it is remove the head, have it surfaced. replace the head gasket and torque the head bolts correctly. make sure it is coming from the surface area of the block/head and you didnt blow out a freeze plug that can be in the same area. oh, this would be a good time to consider having some fun with the old jeep and removing that piss poor excuse for a motor and installing a real one... :)
replace the radiator, i am sure the chemicals you used to flush it only did more damage than what there worth. also be prepaired because the damage to the radiator will happen to the heater core as well. why you are there, remove the thermostat, completely flush the block with very clean water and then start over with the proper mix of coolant/antifreeze.....hope this helps

At the very least, you have a bad head gasket. It costs a ton of money to replace a ten dollar part. And if you are lucky, you dont have to plane the block. If the block is cracked, you need a new engine.

i am not sure, but check to see if it's a freeze plug first. Take the radiator to a shop to flush it out....I they can,if you have plastic tops or sides just buy a new one. have the entire system flushed, by a pro.

check your oil, if it's milky..you have a blown head gasket or oil in the coolant cracked head. try to find a buddy to help you check it .out, i am sure they will do it for a few beers.

When you overheat stuff with aluminum heads, guess what? It warpes the Head!. You need to get another head, and along with that a new head gasket, and it sounds like you need a radiator and a water pump as well.

Been there my friend!

A fair amount of Cherokees of this vintage have the very problem you are describing here. Usually it's a failure in the windshield seal. Fortunately it is also usually an easy and inexpensive fix. Take a run down to your local auto glass shop and have them check it out. A simple reseal will solve the problem in most cases.
