My favorite thing to do is to just take a drive and go where ever, as far as I could until I ran out of money or gas. But since I can't do that, I guess I'll have to go to my favorite park on the outside of town and sit by the water and think or take picture or write poetry. Even the walk is tranquil.

On an sunny island. Or in Oklahoma or Idaho. Or wherever you want. Driving to nowhere is a thing, searching for what.... maybe for the unknown. But the reality check makes us find fulfillment in real things, not in the imaginative. You write but you cannot be Hemingway [who can, he is the genius...]. Just because, Hemingways cannot be any longer, or can be but should be a bit different... You might be Sandra Brown or John Grisham but that is not easy either. You choose. First make a living then travel [in reality or the imaginative]. It is up to you.

Depends on where you are, doesn't it? If you are anywhere near NYC then I strongly suggest the Alleghany National Forest in PA. I used to live near there and I hiked 10 miles every morning for 6 months and never saw a cigarette butt. If you break your ankle hiking here, hunters will find your bones decades from now. Better still, look on the PA map for Quehanna Wild Area.

We are surrounded by water here in the arctic and have some major rivers (Noatak, Selawik, Buckland and Kobuk rivers). You can always find a solitary place there.

There's some nice isolated spots up here in the mountains. Lots of woods, creeks, streams, and waterfalls. I wouldn't be too hard pressed to get away from it all.

I like your style.

It's even better if you find a nice climbable tree and get up about half-way onto a nice sitting branch.
