I use Scope mouthwash but I can't stand the mintiness, so I dilute it with water: 1 part water to 2 parts mouthwash.

I've had bad experiences with dentists and I don't want to risk having to get a filling.
(I do brush at least twice a day and floss daily, but I've only started following good brushing habits recently.)

Will I be ok?

You should be brushing, flossing and using a Fluoride mouthwash like ACT, or Fluorigard. The fluoride rinses help remineralize the teeth to help prevent decay. If you have reason to be concerned with cavities you can also use a higher concentration fluoride toothpaste like Prevident (ask the pharmacist) The Scope is more for fresh taste.
Good luck!

I suggest you switch to a mouthwash that is not so minty. The mouthwash is not as big a deal as proper flossing and brushing habits. No worries.

I find super minty flavours hurt my mouth. I have tried all sorts of products (and spent a fortune!) from Biotene, to sensodyne, Lemon Fresh etc. I have finally found one that works. It's tastes mild, has no SLS in it, has antibacterials in it, uses nanoparticles which bind to the teeth and gums and work whilst you sleep to clean, protect and in the morning, you wake with a fresh, moist mouth. It's the best stuff. There is also a section on how to brush and also floss your teeth. It's writen by a dentist and is simple to follow. www.denta-med.com.au. Try it. You'll love it.
Good luck

Hi, you will still produce positive effects. However, look for mouthwash without alcohol, that is probably what is bothering you more than the mintiness. Alcohol damages enamel and your gums. It also feels better and works just as well when you use mouthwash without alcohol. Alcohol is used, among other reasons, to give you that 'fresh' feeling by drying out your mouth.

No, mouthwash kills bacteria that grows all around in your mouth, the other things don't do that very well and you are diluting the mouthwash to make it partly work to. If you don't like the taste of mint then get a Cinnamon one they are not all mint.

It sounds like you will be fine anyway. Your'e brushing habits sound pretty good but if you really want to use a mouthwash from scope without reducing its effeectiveness try using a different flavor from scope like the orange one maybe.

Dnt do experiments wid mouthwashes or any other pharmacutically manufactured products. They prepare solutions in a right proportions. Alteration in proportion of contents may cause harm than treating smething. So use sme other mouthwash....

HELLO,
YOU SEEM TO BE TAKING GOOD CARE OF YOUR TEETH. FYI 90% OF ADULT AMERICANS NEVER FLOSS AND YET 75% HAVE SOME FORM OF GUM DISEASE.
AS FAR AS MOUTHWASH, ALL ELSE YOU'RE DOING MORE THAN MAKES UP FOR THE MOUTHWASH.

try biotene, it's a far better mouthwash and doesn't sting. You can leave it in your mouth for as long as you want without any pain.
