I assumed originally that I had dry eyes, so purchased re-wetting drops and that fixed the problem in my right eye, however doesn't fix anything for my left eye. In fact, I noticed when I remove my contacts that eye suddenly is severely dried up, and won't go back to normal, and the only way to fix it is to put back on my contacts, and this happens even if I don't use my re-wetting drops that day. Any ideas of what could be wrong?

your ducts may be blocked...get it checked out...thats why you can't tear up which would cause the natural moisture to come back

one thing i'm sure is that your contact lenses are not the solution. lenses dry your eyes because they don't let your eyes breath. never wear your lenses when it reall isn't necessary. stop wearing lenses for a couple of days. if you see an imporvement don't wear them for 2 weeks. before wearing lenses make sure that they are soaked overnight in fresh solution. if this doesn't work go to a doctor. the earlier you go the least you will have to spend.

You are having eye irritation under the contact lens. Putting on the lens is causing it but it also masks it.
Some possible causes are foreign body under lens, torn lens. infection and most commonly, contact lens solution sensitivity.
Go to your ophthalmologist and find out for sure. Vision is precious.

i wear contacts and have chronic dry eye...they prescribed certain contacts that help with chronic dry eye and they prescribed drops for chronic dry eye....

i would see you eye doc bout the problem though...you may have an infection. i would stick to your glasses for now until you see the doc...you can permanently damage your eye if you keep wearing the contacts especially if they are part of the problem

It could be allergies. Perhaps you need to switch the type of contact lens you use. See a medical professional as soon as you can. It could be nothing or it could be everything.

My guess too, is allergies...it's that season again. I had them in my eyes last year. Your eye doctor will be able to tell you for sure and if you do have allergies, you'll get some eyedrops from him/her.
