There are three kinds of love in the Greek language that are used in the bible.
1 Eros = love between a man and woman. we get the word erotic from that kind of sexual love.
2 Phileo = brotherly love or love between friends. we get the word Philadelphia from that kind of platonic love
3 Agape = God's love That is the kind of love that is all giving and unconditional. people can love each other with this kind of love too. it is unselfish and pure.
Hope this helps.

Agape is selfless love. In English, we have only one word for love. In Greek, there are a few. Agape for the kind of love Christ has for us, and then another one for like brotherly love, etc.

Agape is the Greek word for Godly love.
Its the kind of love which says "I love you, no matter what".
So its one way love, like a mother loving her baby, even though all her baby does is make messes in her diapters and sleep.

Agape is a kind of love characterized by the lover sacrificing himself/herself completely for the sake of the beloved. As Jesus did for us.

It is a terminology derived from Greek, it is the definition of the love that God has for humans. Complete and unconditional love. Never judging, never forsaking them, accepting them as they are in totality.

It means like the love of God. Non sexual...totally unconditional. Not a love that depends on our response.
