Many religions try, but Jehovah's Witnesses are the most efficient at doing so in an organized fashion. They witness in more than 235 countries.

But I heard of Latter Day Saints, Church of Christ, and others making an effort. Then there are all of the television evangelizers. I'm not sure what religions they represent. I'm not sure if you call that witnessing. But this is what I've observed.

I just love those people who say "Jehovah's Witnesses *and* Christians," as if Jehovah's Witnesses are in a different category than Christians.

Reality check: Jehovah's Witnesses ARE Christians. Jesus himself was a Witness, he called himself the "Faithful and True Witness" in the book of Revelation, and often said that he came in his Father's Name, to glorify his Father and to fulfill his Father's will.

Now, some people don't want to acknowledge Jehovah's Witnesses as Christians, but that's their problem.

Jesus said that many who call him "Lord, Lord" are people he doesn't even know, and that his true followers are those who obey him.

The last instruction Jesus gave his followers before his ascension to heaven was to preach, to witness. (Matthew 28:19, 20)

I have had a few people of other religions come to my home every once in a blue moon, but their efforts soon ceased. Witnessing is hard work, but it is what Jesus and his disciples did.

All religions do so in some fashion. Various religions have different reasons why they witness the way the do.
*JW and Mormons do it because they think it earns them rewards in heaven or with God
*Christians do it because they want to share the gift of eternal life that they've freely received
*Muslims do so in various ways - some peacefully, others by the sword (don't get mad at this comment, it's in the Holy Quran)
*Even atheists witness in their own way - they want people to see things the way they do

"JW and Mormons do it because they think it earns them rewards in heaven or with God"

Just to clarify, to the above post someone wrote, that is incorrect about witnesses.

Jehovah's Witnesses do not preach to others because it earns any kind of heavenly reward, that is simply not true. We don't believe people go to heaven when they die, we know there are a select number of humans, from a study of the book of Revelation that talks about a specific number of humans who will go to heaven that will rule with Jesus. We believe, based on the bible, that the condition of the dead is that they are conscious of nothing at all, like they are asleep. Yet we do believe in a resurrection, much like the resurrections Jesus performed when he was on the earth to set an example to show us what he will do in the future.

We preach to others about God's Kingdom because it brings attention to others that he is the only True God, and Jesus told his followers to preach, Matthew 24:14.

We don't earn special points, or anything. We do it out of love for him and want others to know the message he has in the Bible. His Kingdom is going to be a government ruled from heaven, over the humans on the earth. Those who follow what God wants us to do, as found in the Bible will be part of this.

This is why it's important to talk to a witness about what we believe, so much gets misconstrued and people just don't have accurate information about us.

Witnessing is just telling your own story, and how God is part of your story. Any bible based faith should be witnessing. But I think people of any faith that care about others will witness as a tool to be understood, to relate, and to ultimately help others along on their own spiritual journey.

Witnessing is sharing your thoughts or specific occasions that help strengthen your faith. Any religion can do that.
