I smoke, and don't plan on quitting any time soon. It's no worse than any other stuff we put in our system, like all that fast food, alcohol, etc.

Mind you, like alcohol, cigarettes can be used moderately and safely. I smoke one or two a day. It isnt good to smoke them nonstop, I agree... these people who smoke several packs a day are the ones who make themselves sick.

What made me make this decision, you ask? My dad is the healthiest person on the planet. Had a whole basketful of pills and vitamins, etc, that he took every single day for over 30 years. He had a stroke and was never the same afterwards. Me? I'm nearly thirty and haven't taken care of myself at all, yet I'm healthy as a horse! Nuff said. I think it's all a matter of chances, what happens to you.

I dont think its right for people to be for or against smoking... we smokers should have the right to smoke wherever we want. Here in alabama, I can't smoke anywhere but the middle of a field, cause its been banned in most public places, and thats not right at all. My favorite bowling alley closed down cause of that stupid law. All the bowlers there were smokers... they wouldnt bowl if they couldnt smoke, so the place lost money and shut down.

Evil anti-smoking laws... *grumble*

No way.....what, do you think I'm stupid? I can read all of the studies out there. Only someone with a mental issue would start or continue to smoke after all of the knowledge out there about it.
I'm hoping my State will pass the 'smoke free' bill SOON. Luckily my workplace has banned smoking.

Had 1 packet when I was 14, and that was over 30 years ago. Have asthma, so not a good idea for me, but married a smoker. Go figure!

I don't smoke, but my dad used to. He got lung cancer, and they removed half his lung. He coughs all the time, and he has to wheel around oxygen now. Not forever though, we hope. Take it from me, don't smoke. And if you already do, quit.
