He's always introducing himself now like this, "Hi, I'm Doug Dannger, a gay man and a gay journalist". It's soooo dumb.

Next time he does it, just tell him that no one really needs to know that, and furthermore, no one cares.

You have a dad. He is alive. He is there for you, and must be around you if he is introducing himself this way.

Tell him what you think. Tell him you are embarrassed by his introduction. He is proud to be gay, and just trying to let people know.

Try to work out a way that, when he is around you and your friends he doesn't introduce himself that way.

If that doesn't work, try something like this: "Hi, I am mortified." when he introduces himself like that. It will get the point across while relieving a little tension.

Have you told him how you feel about this? If not I would ask him not to be quite so blunt. I mean if he is gay then no big deal but it's not like he has to let every stranger he meets know. Althoug im not sure there is much you can do just try not to be to embarrassed of your father cause he is still your dad.

That is really dumb, He is so proud of been gay that he has to announce it, when he introduce himself, who cares, so he came out of the closet Hay Hay Hay, Stop it everyone can see who you are and how do he know that it not embarrassing to you.You need to tell him that you do not like him doing that.He may do that to someone one day and they might take it the wrong way.

We all get mad at our parents for doing goofy things at some point or another. It's usually the dad who does the goofy stuff but moms are not immune.

It took me a while to realise that I was mad at my dad not because of what he did but because I had expectations of how he should behave. I thought my friends would laugh at him and therefore at me.

And then I looked around and found that almost all my friends' dads were doing something goofy. One would corner the nearest person at a party and lecture him on how the Armed Forces built character. Another would get drunk and fondly believe he was the handsomest and wittiest man at the party.

Dads go through their own crises. We get mad at them because we expect them to behave in a certain way but they don't.

We need to understand that they're going through life for the first time too.

Is he really a gay journalist? Bc if he's not, that makes it dumber. Actually, that's a dumb way to introduce yourself to people even if you aren't gay. It's just who you sleep with, not who you are. It would be like me saying, "Hi, I'm ___, I'd prefer to sleep with dark-haired men and I'm in college!"

Terrible. I feel bad for you.

Be proud of him, some people don't even have a dad. Plus parents are always going to be embarrassing, whether gay, straight, old or young; always.

That would be a bit unsettling. How do people respond when he does that? It's awkward. Tell him it makes you uncomfortable. Dad should understand. If he argues and tries to make you understand his reason/s, tell him he's being juvenile. It is TMI.
Good Luck

Yeah, it sounds like he's trying to convince himself.

I think it must make some people uncomfortable. It's great that he feels good about his gay status, but he doesn't have to go overboard.

Talk with him about your feelings.

I can't stand when gay people have to flaunt their sexuality. We don't go around saying, Hi, I'm straight. Who cares what he is, that is so annoying. He sounds very juvenile. Is he trying to prove something? I hope everyone already knows he is gay or you just "outed" him, lol
