And fufiul at least a couple years of service. The more you serve the faster you gain citizenship.

ironic question, because a not insubstantial part of the force in Iraq is already being "outsourced" to private militias from latin america (Peru and Columbia).
Under the new immigration bill, this is one of the requirements they want to put on high school/college students who are here illegally but came before they were 14. They would be required to serve 4 years and be honorably discharged, then they would be on the "fast track" to citizenship. Also it would help the army meet its recruitment goals which right now it's failing to meet.
As for letting any illegal immigrant join the military...lolol..my husband is illegal and he did ROTC in the MEXICAN army. There is a 6-month ROTC stint that is required of all young men in Mexico. So...where would their loyalties really lie??

Definately, that would be better than straight out rewarding a criminal for a crime.
I think for some of the lighter crimes with regular citizens as well, this would work.
Gets prisoners out and rehabilitated, also solves the illegal immigration problem.

No. I think that if this Immigration Reform Bill is passed, it will be major chaos in this world. I really think that Congress is breaking America's laws and I am so disappointed with our leaders wanting "ILLEGALS" to remain in our country. It means that our leaders are actually siding with people who break the laws of our country. They might as well let everyone in our jails and prisons out!
People, it is time to stand up for what is right. Wake up America!!!

just for yor information, the army has decieved hispanic people ofering citizenship to them and their families if they join the army. they never got anything from the army.
besides that i saw it by myself. I was working at a fast food restaurant as a cashier when two officers came in. I asked them if I could help them. it was a man and a womman. the guy, didn;t answered me. he was looking to my co-workers. he talked to one of them ( illegal )and said. ÿou would be a good soldier"
what was he thinking about???
Americans don't want hispanic people coming to this country but they can recruit them to send them to die???

Negative. Illegals should be deported at once if they returned the should be jailed and then banned for good.
There are plenty of fine legal immigrants who are already serving. If you ask me if military service with a good record should be a shortcut to citizenship I would be all for that.

Illegal aliens should not be allowed in the military (or in any government job, for that matter) in the first place.

This sounds like a good option to me if totally on a volunteer basis. Of course, for their safety and the safety of those around them, they would need a working level of English first.

Illegals wanting to be soldiers must be legalized because they will be sacrificing their lives for the country. However, they must first take their allegiance and renounce their former country.
