Everyone has the right to their own religion. I think it is wrong to force your beliefs on others period. I believe what I believe and if someone was interested I would gladly explain why I believe so. In no way would I expect that person to see things or believe things my way unless they chose to. Religion is about choice, faith, and in some cases your own personal lifestyle. Everyone is entitled to think they way they choose.

I often find that in talking to others just in everyday conversation, my personal convictions and morals surface. Not because I'm trying to "convert" someone, but because my morals and convictions make up who I am as a person so I can't help but talk about them (when certain questions or statements arise). Sometimes the other person agrees, and sometimes they don't. In the end we just agree to disagree and move on!. I'm a Christian and I believe that God divinely appoints times in your life to talk to others about Christ. I believe that you have to be ready and available to heed the calling for those times and he will go before you. When you're in the flesh and trying to force your beliefs on someone else you end up making an enemy instead of a friend and you'll more than likely never be able to minister to that person again! After all, a person convinced against their will, is of the same opinion still! lol.

I don't think I have the right to preach and try and covert someone I don't know. God's gift is for everyone, but from a purely selfish point of view, I've accepted it so I'm alright, why should I try and force others to see what I mean? Of course, I want everyone to accept the gift of forgiveness, but its my friends and the people that I know about that I care about most, not random people on Y!A... That's why I don't force my view on here... or anywhere else for that matter, but I'm more likely to talk about my faith and what I think to people I know that random people. Everyone has the right to ask questions, and everyone has the right to answer questions with their viewpoint, but I don't think it's right to try and convert someone with your words when they have to chance to see if you are practicing what you preach. Also on the Great Commission ... it says go and make DISCIPLES of all nations. Disciples were close friends of Jesus, and I think part of that commission is to make friends with people and get to know about their lives, before you try and discuss God with them. AND another thing, on the how do you know your religion is right thing ... the different religions contradict each other quite a lot, therefore only one of them, or atheism, can be right, not all of them. If you are searching the truth, then you can't follow all religions, you can just learn from all of them.

Matthew 28:19, 20 Jesus said: "Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them" and "teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you". Any religion who's members do not fulfil this command and publicly preach, cannot be considered to be the true religion. With knowlegde comes responsibility, so those who feel they have the true religion have a duty to tell people about it.

Each person should look into the religion they were brought up in, not just accepting it because it's what their parents believed.

Christians spread the Good News of the Lord. Only the Holy Spirit can convert someone.

I do not have the ability let alone the right to convert anyone. That is not my job.

I do have the right and authority to inform anyone I can about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Glory of God. After that it is up to them what they do with that information.

If they choose to learn more and seek Christ, I am available to assist. If they choose not to they do so at their own peril.

That depends on how you do it. I used to go on all the time about my faith, because for me it was exciting and real and new and like I had found the cure for cancer! No doubt this got on people's nerves. Anyway, now I'm more of the opinion that our faith should be done more by action than words, if people ask me why I'm different I will not hesitate to explain, and my friends all know what I believe. God has asked me personally to spread the gospel, am I going to disobey Him? No, I'm waiting to see how he wants me to do it.
I would prefer to invite people to a christian event so they can choose to hear the word for themselves, if they come then it's up to God to open their eyes and stir them inside, like he did to me before I believed.

There is a clear difference between witnessing your own truth and denying someone else's truth. Converting someone to your Truth is a denial of the individual's experience and hence sacred connection to the Divine. Live and walk your own truth and enjoy your sacredness

Oh Goddess what a great question!!!!! Of COURSE NOT! I put attempts to convert me right up there with telephone solicitations: BUG THE HELL OFF! By Christianity's so-called reasoning, they have the right to invade my personal space and take up my personal time because their deity told them to go out and teach all nations, etc., right? OK, so if my religion tells me to go out and dance on a Christian's lawn in order to convert them to paganism, does that mean I get to just because my religion says I have to??????????

I just wish they would cut it out. I am not going to go back to that illogical religion. Witchcraft is so much more down to earth and much more to do with common sense.

In Christianity-
Nobody can "convert" anyone. You may say all the right things, and do all that you can, but it is only through the prompting of the Holy Spirit and His work in you, that you would be converted. No one can boast that they have converted anyone; that would be taking the glory from God.
God does tell us to go and make disciples. So, we are to plant the seeds. It is up to God when they will grow.

I have faith that Christianity is the one true way. God says this is right, and that's all I need to believe it.
