Is it because there minds are shot and they can't think clearly anymore?

I believe that a lot of people are searching their souls or trying to find the right church to go to.

For example: My mom and dad raised us 4 children as Mormons because his mom was.
My mom prayed on this constantly wanting the truth revealed to her that this wasn't the "right" church for her family. She felt it inside her spirit.

It was a struggle with a lot of strife between mom and dad. He was a truck driver and altough he believed, it wasn't in his soul. And he stopped going to church at all.

With mom's constant study of the bible and prayer she was shown that this religion was a cult. ( I'm sorry to offend anyone here. My God fearing sweet Grandmother was a Mormon and I don't think she will go to hell).

My point is for some people it's a lifelong journey into yourself, the Word, what you need from a church family, and most of all your connection to God.

I'm so happy to say that what started 30 years ago is a testimony for me not to follow someone else's belief, but to study and search for the truth through the Word and your personal faith and relationhip will come.

My parent's are such an inspiration to me to never stop searching for the truth.

There may be others who think their time is close and want the safety net that God provides. I feel sorry for them to have lost out on life's journey as a Christian.

My parent's have such a loving relationship with our Lord, together. It's the greatest gift a parent could leave behind for their children.

I think we go through stages. When I was a child I went to Sunday school, etc. When I went to college I went to the Catholic Student Union. I raised my children in the Church, but I began to have doubts and explored other religious philosophies. I became disgusted with organized religion of any kind as I watched televangelists talk about miracles and then ask for money. I have no doubt that there is a God and that he is in control of the universe. I don't know whether I believe in heaven or hell. Sometimes I do, and sometimes I don't. But I sincerely hope that this is not all there is. You will too as you get older.

I think they have more wisdom in their years than we can understand. We all settle down a little when we grow older. I think the feeling they have something to prove has worn off and they are ready to accept things as they are and not always have to have the "proof" we need when we are younger. God also says that in old age you will return to a child like state, and children are very receptive and accepting of a God and Jesus. Jesus said to let the little children come to him because he knew they love him with a pure love, not a discriminating or conditional love we can have as we get older. They need no proof because the proof is written in their hearts!

Because they know that logically they are closer to dying and even though they may not have been a christian I think the idea of them imagining somewhere nice to go after death must a comforting thought. It's not easy to get old and die, I watched my grandfather struggle through it. He said to me once. I don't know how to do this, I on't know how to die. I think believing in heaven would make the change seem a little less frightining!

I am not sure it has as much to do with age as it does life time events... as we mature tho' our view points and observations change accordingly... if NOT we become TOO self absorbed and stagnant..Therefore our opinions are of NO use to anyone.
As we age or suffer trauma at the hands ogf others, be become aware of a LARGER than SELF force that begs us to stay on the planet and PASS On the information we have learned from our hardships. THIS dear friend has more to do with TRUSTING the higher power than actual age.
If YOUR child was deathly ill, WOULD YOU PRAY to God?

IF SO, then BUDDY, YOU already believe.

Well, when we are young, we escape the question of life and death. We think there are other more important things to do:shopping, t.v, internet, friends,etc.... but when you become old and get close to the time of leaving this world, you start being nervous about where are you going. I recommend this to you: Don't ask yourself that when you are old....start seeking now and fulfill your duty here, on earth before time runs out. Receive Jesus as your personal savior

Most of them are trying to clear the path to heaven and trying to make up for most of their lives of being obnoxious...at least that is what my mother did. I gather you aren't Christianity based. One might assume your mind is shot to NOT believe in it...It's a point of view thing. Good luck!!!

partly because they know they will die soon and they want to make sure they dont go to hell and partly becasue the older you get the more you realize that God is good and your a much happier person with him in your life. It makes you feel better to give all your worries to him instead of trying to carry them alone. for more information read "the problem of pain"

Maybe age is wisdom or what the hell if the Christian idea of heaven is right what is there to lose. I am sure if I have one inkling that I am about to die I might just say a prayer and hope.

As people grow older they have learned what is and what is not important in life. They ponder more on their lives and the lives of others. They realize life is not forever and start coming to their ending days.
