you can be allergic to anything...there are even people allergic to sunlight. I am allergic to mint but not peppermint, I met someone allergic to plastc. Whatever can come into contact with you has a possibility to affect you in a negative way. Just be glad it isn't something you can't live without. Good luck you!

It is actually possible to be allergic to almost anything. It may not be the watermelon itself; but may actually be something in the soil where the watermelon was grown. An insecticide or pesticide, possibly. The area around your lips is very sensitive, and has a lot of nerve endings and will react in that manner to things that you are allergic to. You can go to an allergist and have some tests done. Most people that have food allergies will have more than one food that they will have a negative reaction too. Best of luck to you, have a good day!

Yes! I used to be very allergic to watermelon. If I just got the juice on my skin, I would break out wherever it touched me. Of course, my mouth and throat would itch if I ate it.
Now I am no longer allergic because I had allergy desensitation shots. It took 5 years on the shots before my allergy to raw fruits and vegetables went away.

I used to have that problem. I'm not exactly sure what causes it, but be sure to eat ripe watermelons or ripe melons of other types. I found if they weren't ripe, I'd have a reaction, or avoid it and any other melons(cantaloupe, honeydew, etc.) for a while.
By the way, I think allergies are caused because your body lacks certain nutrients or isn't absorbing the necessary nutrients, and because you are lacking those nutrients, your cells aren't performing as they should and are attacking certain foods in your system. Like I said I used to be allergic to melons, but I used to also be allergic to chicken and many nuts, but now I eat all of those.
A co-worker of mine had mentioned muscle testing. It is a way of finding out what your body is allergic to and what your body is deficient in. Once you take what your body needs, you won't have allergies anymore. His sister was allergic to dairy products and beef. About a week after being muscle tested, she didn't feel like going to work, so she ate ingested some dairy to make her sick. She waited a while, but no reaction. So she ate a block of cheese, and still no reaction. She found that she liked cheese and dairy in general, and beef as well.
Be sure to see a good, licensed muscle tester. Or just stop eating allergic foods.

Yes, my father has a horrible reaction to fruit, especially melons. It's very possible that you're allergic to watermelon, I would stay away from it!

It is possible to be allergic to anything. Avoid them from now on, the condition may only get worse. My partner is allergic to crustaceans (prawns/crab/lobster etc) His allergy started with a sore throat, then progressed and made his tongue swell up, and his throat close. There are tests to define your allergies. Get a referral from your GP if you are concerned. Hope this helps.

My mouth itches really bed when I eat fresh fruits and vegetables. You can take an allergy pill before you know you are going to eat them and it should fix the problem. It works for me.
Good luck!

That happens to a friend of mine, she also gets the same reaction from strawberries. The older you get the worse your allergies and food allergies will become.
