I have an old color tv with vcr for the kids in the car.. When its on at night in the car while driving it is really bright. Is this a distraction to other drivers. It does not have the dark screen like the oem built in video systems have

yes it is. you just cant have it were the driver is looking at it.

As long as it doesn't distract the driver AND what's being shown isn't X rated. You can be cited in some cities and counties if a cop pulls up behind you and sees your passengers are watching porn.

Limos do this and I;ve seen it and the cops never pull them over.
